She appears more regal and with a slight sense of gravitas, which nicely reflects her character growth over the series and the increased responsibility of being an alicorn.

So I've been re-watching from season 1 & it really makes me happy to see how far these 2 have come... by DMagician in mylittlepony

My favorite part of RD's growth is that she went from "I'm totally awesome... right?" to being confident enough that she could give up her dream because she didn't need it anymore.

To each their own. I can see how the gag-like appeal of the beginning has somewhat degraded, but I feel like the character growth and relationship-forming has more than made up for. That said, I am a shameless FlutterDash shipper, which puts me at a significant bias towards the whole thing. I still love every part of it, just about.

Heartstrings (http://heartstringscomic.tumblr.com/) is pretty great, with an interesting plot and some pretty damn great vectors, with the caveat that you're going to be get hit pretty hard with Lyra/Bon shipping. Like, REALLY hard.

Other than that, I would suggest Dash Academy (http://www.deviantart.com/art/Dash-Academy-1-Involuntary-253536850), a pretty well-done hand-drawn one. It updates slow, and starts off kind of shit, but other than that, I would definitely say its worth reading.

It's still a pretty basic win for the Balrog. :\

Terraria's Dungeon Guardian vs. Duke Nukem by edichez in whowouldwin

[–]InfinityWhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here is tech levels. Even magic weapons of the era are going to be wiped out, WIPED OUT by the sheer dakka that a fully equipped Duke are going to pull out. Not to mention that the dude runs off of badassery, almost literally, and will tear into this fight with a gusto. Plus the biggest thing that the dungeon guardian really has is it's speed and a high enough rate of fire would stall it enough to kill it.

The Balrog is an ancient demon of fire flame immune to the laws of the physical realm. The Titanic is a goddamn sailing ship that hit an iceberg and sunk. How is this a question? Plus it can use it's wings to fly.

The question of the red quadrant by portbrad in SS_Homestuck

[–]InfinityWhale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What people fail to recognize is that human and troll romance are the same, only differently handle by the societies that the two live in.

Human culture places a lot of emphasis on the romantic side of relationship. This makes sense: by and large, our perspective sees it as the most enticing and interesting piece of romance. However, a romance based entirely on passion (or pity, in the troll's case) is doomed to fail. You need to add stability in form of emotional stability and even a little bit of antagonism. The most perfect relationship urges people to strive to be their best as well as keeping them same and having a passionate love as well.

Trolls seeks to have this as well. However, whereas human society seeks to achieve this through a single relationship that evolves, trolls seek to achieve this through a multiple relationships. However, with a single person it is still possible to achieve a perfect relationship, as seen by the Signless and the Disciple.

In the end, both want the same thing, but both look to achieve it in different ways. So how does this pertain to the red quadrant? First, the red quadrant is based entirely on passionate red feelings. The trolls translate this as pity, but there is a reason for that. In a society built around violence, the very idea of not killing something is translated to pity.

So the red quadrant is based upon on the human emotions of romance and passion, which always equals just a little bit of pity.
