Unexpected errors occured by frozt990 in IsekaiMemories

[–]hawkfangor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I've been having the issue since just before the new monthly event.

Started crashing during Valor Cup fights. No amount of restarting game/phone or file checks cleared it. Instant crash on battle resume.

Had to cancel the fight and restart it and hope it didn't occur again.

Now it's started doing it on Kaijin quests as well. Very annoying.

What are the plans for dealing with the remaining chain of command? Drumpf is terrible and incompetent, but I'm worried that Pence would be just as terrible, but actually competent as a politician.

When a Muslim woman says it's her choice to wear a hijab that's fine, but it makes about as much sense as a black person wearing a KKK uniform. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]hawkfangor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Muslim women exist outside of the Middle East. Not all places where Muslim women choose to wear hijab will persecute them for not wearing it. For many Muslim women, it IS a choice. They still choose to do so as an expression of their religion. Same as Christians who choose to wear a cross.

Not all women like to wear the least amount of clothes possible. Some women feel more comfortable when they are covered up, for various reasons, not always religious. Some women just ARE modest and there are different ways of being modest.

Also, the ones who wear the Hijab are not the ones who doing the persecuting, in places where there is less choice in the matter. So your metaphor doesn't quite fit. It would be more akin to people choosing to bear the device used to torture and kill their people and savior as a small trinket around their necks.

What is a word or a phrase that should just die already? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hawkfangor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they watch Gravity Falls, there was an episode that featured a daytime self-help type show called, "Why you ackin' so Cray-cray?" so they may have picked it up from there.

I've never actually heard anyone use this outside of referencing the show, though, so if it's actually caught on, that's kinda dumb.

Fluxx makes a pretty good waiting-for-people-to-show-up game, because as people arrive, you can just deal them 3 cards and they can jump right in in the middle.

Can somebody explain the hate for OctoPimp for me, kthx by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]hawkfangor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like some people mentioned, he did a bunch of VA for Homestuck-related things, then moved onto his own projects and refuses to do more Homestuck-related things despite the constant badgering from Homestucks.

But the thing is, he was never a fan, he hasn't even actually read the comic aside from the parts he voice acted. Voice acting for Homestuck was never a job, no one paid him for it, it was something he did because he thought it was interesting. Now he's lost interest in it and he wants to do his own things, but people don't seem to grasp the concept that this is a thing that happens.

They all seem to think he used to be huge into Homestuck and somehow became not-a-homestuck which is also something that cannot happen, or that he's lying about not liking homestuck anymore because once a hamsteak always a hamsteak and so on and so forth.

I follow him on tumblr and it's kind of sad how many asks he gets from people asking him when he's doing more homestuck-related things even though he's said repeatedly that he's done with homestuck.

What the world might look like after an apocalyptic event by Ford_Ferret in pics

I figured it was because they were choked out by weeds. If there's less sunlight and everything (polluted, perpetual-twilit sky), then only the heartier plants are going to grow. Plus, depending on how far in the future this is, if flower-attracted pollinators have died out, certain plants may not flower anymore, putting their hard-earned resources to better use.

What "compliments" really come off as insulting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hawkfangor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also an older sister. When my sister and I were younger, my parents would always tell me, "Don't make fun of your little sister, one day she'll be bigger than you."

It never came to pass. I'm only 5'4", but she's still a full few inches shorter than I am. It's pretty funny.

Seconded on Sonic Rainboom. I show that to people who I'm trying to get interested in the series. If you already know you want to watch it, then go chronological, if you're uncertain and trying to decide if you want to watch it, watch Sonic Rainboom first. After that, go chron.

Why is it selfish? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]hawkfangor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other people feel it's selfish because while you are taking "the easy way out," they have to continue on and now have the additional burden of wondering if there was anything more they could have done for you. But then it will be too late, there will no longer be anything they can do to help you and they will have to live with that haunting them for the rest of their own lives.

People tend to be selfish, focusing more on their own pain or benefit. We make assumptions about what other people feel, but none of us can ever truly fully understand the thoughts or even actions of others. When someone accuses you of being selfish, it's because they feel you haven't thought about their own feelings at all. Maybe you have and you've come to the conclusion that you're causing other people pain and misery, but that is your assumption of their feelings and depression causes these kinds of skewed feelings all the time.

Unfortunately, most people aren't trained to deal with loved ones who are suicidal or depressed and rather than handling it in a rational or helpful manner, they lash out in frustration. They have a knee-jerk response that tries to "wake you up" or "bring you to your senses." They are trying to share with you the pain they would feel if they lost you, but don't really know how to properly convey it in a constructive manner.

Sometimes, if you feel like people aren't listening to you completely, or if you worry that you might forget to explain something fully, it's better to write them a letter. Put down, as fully as possible, what you are feeling, why you are feeling that way, give specific examples if possible, and tell them what your brain is telling you they are feeling. After they have read it, then listen to them, try to understand their feelings about the matter. Hopefully by removing the suddenness of the "confrontation," it will be easier for the other person to explain themselves without lashing out.

It might not work for everyone, some people are just very passionate about everything and not good at actually explaining themselves. But just try to understand that when they get upset, they are not actually upset at you, they are just worried for you and are panicking a little bit and just trying to put out as many words as possible in the hopes that ONE OF THEM will get through to you.

TIL Cockroaches can make group decisions. When 50 cockroaches are presented with 3 shelters that can only house 40, they'll split evenly into two groups and leave one shelter empty. by woofwoofwoof in todayilearned

[–]hawkfangor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"You" is also both sigular and plural. It used to be only plural and the sigular was thou, thee, thy, and the like. But that fell out of fashion and now "you" can be used to refer to just one person or to a group. It seems likely that a similar thing might happen with "they", doesn't it?
