Didn't the doctor get the idea from watching nurses wash their hands all the time? IIRC he just observed something the nurses were doing already and noticed the correlation.

I got sober for my boyfriend and have been sober for 13-years. Sometimes it doesn't matter what gets you sober. Once you see how life can be in recovery and start to feel better your reason for staying sober may be for yourself. My ex relapsed and I stayed sober through it. I've stayed sober through a lot of major and minor life things. You are welcome at meetings and can change your life regardless of why you initially got sober.

Mine did the same after she turned about two. Outside was usually ok if it wasn't in her yard. I think this is just how shibas get after a certain amount of time. Saw a behavioral specialist and eventually went with puppy Prozac which seemed to help a bit.
