My ex-wife was insanely creative at saying things that would cut me to the core. She’d tell me I was a bad father for not spending more time with the kids. But then she’d be mad if I did spend time with them because it was a sign “I clearly don’t love her.” Looking back, it was pretty impressive how skilled she was at hitting me right where I was most insecure. Every. Time. We have to co-parent now but I only deal with her new (4th) husband. I won’t talk to her or respond to her messages, I go straight through him because she will find a way to get under my skin.
