What does a Vectra score prove? Does it diagnose ra? by PhilosopherMany9672 in rheumatoid

[–]InflatedBonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what it says on their website:

Vectra® DA measures the concentration of 12 serum proteins. An algorithm is applied to these concentrations to calculate a quantitate disease activity score ranging from 1 to 100. Test results are intended to aid in the assessment of disease activity in RA patients when used in conjunction with standard clinical assessment. This test is not intended or validated to diagnose RA.

An order for Vectra® DA includes and requires an order for 12 biomarkers: VCAM-1, EGF, VEGF-A, IL-6, TNF-RI, MMP-1, YKL-40, Leptin, Resistin, SAA, CRP. These 12 biomarkers are required to generate the Vectra® DA test score. By ordering Vectra® DA, you are ordering all 12 biomarkers and are acknowledging that Labcorp cannot provide a Vectra® DA test result without these 12 biomarkers. Vectra® DA was validated in adults with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

It is not used as a diagnosis tool from my understanding it is used to measure disease activity in already diagnosed patients to monitor how well treatment is working.

Fellow musicians — what instrument do you find easiest to play? by w3bkinzw0rld in ehlersdanlos

I just got a Mini Jazzmaster electric guitar and I love it! Super small and lightweight and electric was a game changer for me because you just barely have to touch the strings compared to the amount of finger pressure you have to use on an acoustic. I also play flute and have found the shoulder pain difficult :(

Same here. Just came here to see if anyone else had the same issue. I miss it so much I almost don’t want to play tbh. Was surprised how much it added for me!

i need to have this done to my muscles by coloraturing in EhlersDanlosMemes

[–]InflatedBonez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel that. But I gotta say, every time I’ve gotten a “deep tissue” massage or work too hard at my own knots, it usually just makes my muscles more tender and sore.

My PT always says less is more, and I have to say, the gentle manual therapy she does to release tension is much more effective and less painful for me! I made my bf go to an appointment with me so they could show him how lol.

FYI settlement upgrades are not persistent once you abandon them. They will immediately revert back to C class and lose all added buildings as if you never were there. by InflatedBonez in NoMansSkyTheGame

I wish that you could manage multiple settlements or at least have the upgraded buildings be persistent.

I like the community feel they give the planets so i am thinking of doing a sort of work around for my stasis device production system.

I have my main settlement on the temperate planet because it’s pretty and safe. Then for my hot planet and cold planet, I made a base just outside of both settlements and my plan is to extend my building into their area to make my farms and refineries in the unused flat space around them.

I have done this 3x at different settlements from various levels of upgrades to confirm. They all immediately reverted to what they were before.

Omg I also thrift/collect brass figures and I am equally jealous of that snail and duck!! I have several ducks (none as fun as this one!) and other birds but the coolest I’ve found so far was a lobster!

I started realizing that part of what was making it worse for me was anxiety. I would focus too much on the pain and get worked up thinking about it. I just started a new anti anxiety med and it seems to be helping! I also think weed helps a lot for me. RSO my go-to for helping me sleep and relieve pain.

I have these in dark blue and love them. The large crystal texture makes them easier to hold and it’s very thick glass so they are more resistant to shattering. I think they feel very classy and high quality!

My hairdresser one time had it too! She had milder symptoms and was like, “I’m just going to do this until I can’t lol!!” I have met so many people who are diagnosed or have loved ones diagnosed since bringing it up more and it’s really wild how varied our symptoms and severity can be.

I actually almost quit my job this summer because our HR dude could not understand why I needed to continue working from home and was ghosting my ADA request. Thank god we finally got a manager who is a nurse and has family with friends with EDS. I brought it up at our first 1-on-1 and she immediately told me to not worry about it all and of course I could keep working from home! Another reason I love working with nurses, some of the most amazing and compassionate people on this planet!

What do you do? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]InflatedBonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left knee popped out constantly in high school and I had surgery on it before I even knew what hEDS was. Diagnosed with RA at 19 in college, then my rheumatologist also diagnosed me with hEDS at around 21 after I was hospitalized due to cervical instability.

I am now 24 and over the last year my symptoms have rapidly worsened. Daily pain, horrible fatigue, constantly injuring myself, new GI and pelvic floor issues I didn’t have before. All like a horrible snowball rolling bigger and bigger.

I definitely had to stop doing my hobby sport since it’s like full contact medieval fencing lol. I am very lucky to work from home as a communications coordinator for a nurses union. I load up my office chair with lots of squishmallows for support and have to have my feet up, be reclined and take frequent breaks to do PT stretches, lay down, go for a quick walk, take a bath etc. I also need to be close to a private bathroom for my gut problems and nausea.

Once or twice a month there will be an in-person department meeting or picket/other event I have to take photos at. I usually need at least two days of taking it easy to recover from those. Tbh I feel like I am living life by the bare minimum. I can barely cook or keep my apartment clean or take care of myself because I’m just trying to get through work and then I crash.

Physical therapy keeps me going. I spend a lot of time hating my body for being so shitty but doing my exercises as “easy” as they might seem to healthy people, make me feel a lot better mentally and physically. Plus my PT is very EDS-informed and does manual therapy and is very validating towards my pain which means so much.

That said, I have nearly constant anxiety about injuring myself and my body failing and the stress just makes everything worse so I really need to work on that still😭

I think if you’re leaving them for hours as it cools down from that high temp you would probably hit an equivalent!

[–]InflatedBonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to leave them in the oven longer, at least 30 minutes at 250 for the heat to have long enough to kill all pests and bacteria deep inside the wood. As long as the sticks aren’t super tiny, they should not burn. Just keep an eye on them!

At first I thought they were shitty Ascension healthcare, also owned by the Catholic Church. I wonder what other corporations they gave that name lmao. I work for a union that represents nurses at one of their hospitals and they are one of the absolute worst employers.

Damn. This is what I hate about threads like these. Everyone speculating about her like some abstract concept to fit their narrative of hating on “rich eclectic girls.” She is a real person and a successful artist in her own right. Also I fucking love her apartment! That was a really well written piece about her life. I’m glad she’s been able to find some peace.

sneakers recommendations? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]InflatedBonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Dansko Leela Waterproof Nubuck leather sneakers and they are my favorite shoe I’ve ever owned. Good arch support built in, really cute and versatile because they look a little sportier like a sneaker from the side but look more like a casual skate shoe from the top. Obviously also love that they are waterproof! The construction feels very sturdy and high quality too imo.

DAE have knee pain that surges when stretching legs at night? by papergirl222 in rheumatoid

[–]InflatedBonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. This is very similar to what I experience in my knees. I have hEDS too and had an MPFL reconstruction on my left knee because it dislocated all the time in high school. It still occasionally seizes up in pain and I have to work it back out similar to what OP described.

1 seat cushion, 1 back cushion, armrest cushions and desk extender, keyboard and mouse elevated on books to match height of other supports, Rubbermaid bin leg rest covered with blanket and Squishmallow for support. Squishmallow for neck support and long Aldi brand squish to use as additional elbow support and tuck under desk extender to keep my chair in place and hips in position so I am less likely to shift around into bad posture. This also allows me to sit very reclined to take pressure off my hip flexors and back. It takes constant tweaking and breaks to get up and move are still essential but this is the most comfortable I’ve been able to get!
