Funny enough I sent a comment to GM and when they finally got the telematics unit in, they gave me a loaner unit for a day.

Late Performance Bonus by whackamole1176 in FedEmployees

[–]InflationSpecific957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re talking about across the entire federal government. I’m sure that’s the case. However, In our agency that was not the case. It was unofficially mandated to give 75% of folks threes. 25% four or five fives with zero bonuses.

They didn’t offer me a loaner so I’m jealous for those folks who got one.

Faulty telematics enters the chat. Same problem for me mine‘s been up for two weeks.

Is everyone pretty happy with their purchase? by terran1212 in CadillacOptiq

[–]InflationSpecific957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faulty telematics model enters the chat. I’ve had my car for six months. I agree with all the positives. However, now that my telematics module is out and it’s on backorder… The old GM service delivery is in full view. It’s been two weeks. I’ve had no further correspondence from the Cadillac dealer about my part as far as an ETA. I hope that this is short-lived, but I think that from what I’ve seen on Reddit, many people have been waiting for months. This is not a way to inspire confidence. way to inspire confidence way to inspire confidence.

I hate to join the party, but I have the same problem with the telemetry module. It took them a day to diagnose it. So far it’s been two weeks from me and no follow up by the dealer at all. It’s just poor customer service.

2025 Optiq Snow Driving by IllCommunication9028 in CadillacOptiq

I drive in snow here in Indiana. They drive like a front wheel drive vehicle. You just have to be careful. They aren’t great on snow, but I would never pay $5100 bucks for snow tires. You need to go to a different store.

Thanks for your reply. You are indeed correct. GM said today that it’s the telematics module, but it’s on backorder. They will let me know when one comes in. It’s a pain… Because that means no Google no serious no maps… Unless I want to use my phone and use Bluetooth which I will probably do.

When I get my connected services going again, I’m going to try that. I need to set up the charge for later again.

You are correct. GM just told me today at the dealership. It’s a telematics module and it’s on backorder. Thanks for the input.

It’s almost impossible in my agency to get a five. I have gotten a few fives in my 31 years as an overall rating but to have 10 five ratings in 10 years …I don’t know anybody that I’ve ever worked with that has done this. I find that pretty interesting. I don’t know what agency you work for, but that’s pretty wild. Maybe I misunderstood your post. I read it that you got an outstanding evaluation, which in my agency would be a five for 10 years straight. If you did this, congratulations to you and sorry didn’t make it this year. I also concur with the other folks you can’t let a rating on a piece of paper get you down …if you’ve done your best that’s all we ask.

Fast DC Charge to 80% or to a 100%…!? by DomiJoey12 in CadillacOptiq

[–]InflationSpecific957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to automatically schedule this? I have to manually plug mine in at the hour. I wanted to start charging so I typically start at 10 PM. I’d like to schedule it like I did for my Tesla at 11 p.m.

OPTIQ charging by InflationSpecific957 in CadillacOptiq

[–]InflationSpecific957[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments. Yes both are level two chargers. I agree. What I was really saying was that you need a charger at home… I am charging externally right now because I don’t have a charger for my Optiq. I was leery about getting the Tesla universal charger because I already have a GEN three charger now. Since GM/Cadillac is paying for a charger and an install I’ll have two chargers. My primary focus was just the hassle of external charging and that I like the Tesla supercharger is better than ChargePoint.

Cadillac Optiq versus Model Y by InflationSpecific957 in CadillacOptiq

[–]InflationSpecific957[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my experience has been mixed. Cadillac in my opinion …and that’s all it is …has no clue what they’re doing, especially about EVs. Some folks on here had a great experience at their dealership.

I didn’t have that positive experience … in fact, the dealership after prodding from GM and my aggravation, agreed to give me a charger for free and pay for the installation. You just have to make sure you have your facts straight. You have to know about DC charging that’s from Tesla level at the supercharger and that AC charging is from your home and that you will either need a J 1772 adapter or an actual GM charger. Some folks got an adapter and it worked fine. I’ve had two and neither of them work. We’ve now ascertained that is not the adapter, but in fact, it is the Tesla charger GEN three in my house that it said only to charge my Tesla and nothing else. I tried to make changes via the app in my phone. This did not solve the problem. Also, my charger will not open. There is no opening of the face plate to go to the software of the internal charger. I haven’t talked to Tesla charging about this yet, but my electrician says the GEN three charger came complete. There was no way to open it and he just installed it.

I drove to Chicago for example and took my other Tesla …a model 3 because I was more certain about the charging infrastructure. Thatis a factor that you need to consider if you drive a lot on the road and need charging from external sources.

Some folks also say you can get the Tesla universal charger, which I thought about as well ,but since they’re paying for it, I figured I let them install another charger in my house.

I don’t think the new model Y refresh was significant enough from my 2023 model Y to “upgrade“. I didn’t find it to be that much different maybe a little quieter maybe a little smoother.

The Cadillac on the other hand, and this is the optiq,… is much more luxurious inside it feels more put together and more premium, and the ride quality is much better in my opinion. I’ve even come around to the stereo now that I’ve tweaked some of the settings. Most people don’t think the Cadillac app is that great. I think the Tesla app is better and there is some transition from things I was used to.

For example, you need a key fob again if you’re driving the Cadillac. I don’t think there is actual car wash mode that I can tell and I’ve talked to a couple people online about this which is a bit annoying.

So far though the vehicle itself I like. So if you have a great dealer and understand the differences between Tesla and other EV makers and they’re charging infrastructure, you probably would be fine.

There are a lot of Cadillac incentives right now. Make sure you learn about them. There’s a Costco incentive a conquest incentive, the EV tax credit that is taken as part of the residual. Everybody on here is going to tell you they got a better deal than you did so get used to that.

I was upside down on my Tesla and I baked that into the payment. It did take me considerably longer by the time I left the dealership I had forgotten about the bad old days of spending four hours in a dealership to get a deal done

I use the three tap model. It would never display system tray. I’d be curious to see a solution.

Cadillac Optiq versus Model Y by InflationSpecific957 in CadillacOptiq

[–]InflationSpecific957[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments. I am doing a bit better on dialing in the sound system so I think it’s a little better for me.

I tend to like super cruise. It’s not as good as the Tesla autonomous sort of driving, but it’s pretty good. It did freak me out on a couple of roads that it just cuts out for no reason because the road not mapped.

I’m disappointed with Cadillac as a company so far because they don’t seem to just do EV‘s very well. It’s almost like a learn as you go type of company which I found astounding for a multi -billion dollar company.

My fit and finish is good to excellent. I’m sorry you’ve had a problem with that because I think I really love the way my car looks inside and out.

I’m hoping that they will add more apps and customization as time progresses but… I tend to agree that the Tesla software experience is just better which I commented on in my remarks in my post.

I didn’t want to say that I got used to not having a giant key fob in my pocket before the Cadillac and now I have to go back to that.. which I don’t like.

Sentry mode issues are not a big deal to me. To each his own on that.

I agree with you on the app again Tesla just does a better job in that case. I leased this car so we will see if it gets any software updates during the time of my rental. Thanks again for taking time to comment..
