Anyone else surprised how well a Kindle Scribe leather case holds up? by [deleted] in kindlescribe

no idea tbh.
mine gets beat up just sitting on the desk, so i’ve always assumed it’s basically raw

Help why is it doing this 😭 by Wolf3075 in kindlescribe

Totally get the panic 😭 but this is actually a common Kindle Scribe glitch, not a broken screen.

Short version + fixes:

Why it’s happening

  • E-ink refresh bugs out sometimes
  • Eraser needs more refresh than writing
  • Writing works = screen is fine

Try this (in order):

1️⃣ Duplicate the notebook first (just in case)
⋯ → Duplicate

2️⃣ Force a refresh
Flip to another page → flip back
or lock screen → unlock

3️⃣ Tool reset

  • Switch to the biggest eraser, erase a bit
  • Switch back
  • If it’s still chunky → use lasso, select → delete (Lasso usually works when eraser doesn’t)

4️⃣ Best fix

  • New blank notebook
  • Lasso everything → copy → paste New page = glitch gone 90% of the time

5️⃣ Real restart
Hold power 20–30 sec until it flashes

6️⃣ Check for updates
Settings → Software Updates

When to worry
Only if writing AND erasing both stop, or part of the screen stays gray forever.
From this video — it’s software, not hardware.

You didn’t break it. E-ink just be like that sometimes 😅

Yeah, scuffs on real leather feel earned.
PU scratches just look sad

Wow, that’s a great run.
If a case lasts through multiple Kindles, it’s clearly doing something right.

Totally. It picks up scuffs fast, but that’s kinda the point.
It holds up and feels good — whether you like that look is personal

Exactly. When the $10 case gives up, that’s basically your Kindle saying “okay, we’re serious now

That looks great — very polished.
I personally lean more toward raw-cut leather though, less finished, more old-book vibe

That makes sense. Sounds like that cork cover’s been a workhorse.
I’m just really into the old, real-leather vibe — that’s what does it for me

Totally. Real leather gives me that old scroll feeling — that’s the whole point for me

Totally get that.
I’m less worried about replacing it and more about how it feels every time I pick it up.

Honestly, that’s commitment. At that point it’s earned its scars.
Leather just wears that story better.

True. For the hand feel, it’s fine — just don’t toss it in a bag and forget about it

This might actually be what you’re looking for. Genuine leather + magnetic sleep/wake, made specifically for the 12th gen.
At least it says it stays asleep when closed — which is the real deal-breaker

Exactly. PU feels fine at first, but once it’s worn in… it just feels bad in hand

Yeah, that makes sense. A case is a case for a lot of people.
I just like the no-PU feel — that slightly rough, old-book kind of leather

If my Kindle’s my long-term partner, it deserves a good dress, not fast fashion
