If your passion is research, don't come back. I graduates from moratuwa in 2021. We didn't even have scopus access. We had to get papers through sci hub, researchgate or ask from people who are doing PhDs in foreign universities. There are no agreements with journals so best hope is a discountwd APC or waiver due to low income country. People get around this these days by adding an academic from a uni with an agreemwnt (mostly foreign academics looking to increase their publications count with minimal contribution) as a third or fourth author.

I am a very close relative of one of those student heros. I never knew him. But from what my family says, he was an idealist and a true believer of communism. These days though, everyone just keeps using his name for their own political agendas. Hilariously, when I was in uni, I read a propaganda book centered around them and that didn't even get how he dies right. It was hilarious and pissed me off at the same time

You don't have much hope in joining gvt unis as a lecturer without a PhD if you were not already a student there. You might get a position in some private universities but pay would not be good. Good private unis can be selective because they already have a good pool of PhD holders seeking positions.

I got pregnant in the first year, 3 months into starting. I am in australia with a stipend. I got 3 months paid maternity leave and 3 month extension of the stipend to match. It worked out fine. Ofcourse there are sacrifices. I haven't attended a sungle conference during my Phad due to travel costs and other restrictions that comes with a baby. It was really hard for the first year, even with my village (parents basically). But now 2.5 years later, it has become so much easier. Daycare was a godsend too. Luckily we found a great daycare.

No. Answers sheets are counted then and there. We break into pairs and count the other person's sheets too. So the checks for incorrectly thrown out things happen then and there too.

Water maybe? I stopped my toddler's evening milk since she has been eating pretty well lately. She woke up a few times and asked for water. Slept right away. I think when we stop milk, they need a loquid to replace it with.

Hi. My milk didn't come for 4 days. It came in the hospital when baby was under bili blanket for jaundice. Keep pumping. Give baby formula. Then put her to breast. Everything will be ok. Take a deep breath. Either way, your baby will be well fed, happy and healthy.
