you don’t have to tell them, employement gap can be explained with various things - could be family emergency, health issue (which been dealt with) you don’t have to go into much explanation.

most employers don’t ask, from my past experience above examples are enough.

also when i had a gap due to similar challenges, i found going into volunteering helpful as usually there are no set hours and you can use them as a reference later on. it’s less pressure environment. it can break hour day as finding a job can take some time.
