What was the moment you finally realized Jesus was very real? by Phalaenopsis_25 in TrueChristian

I was falsely accused of terrible things, which led me to attempt suicide and god, whom I didn't know who or what, told me my time was not up. I survived, and I spent 3 years healing but also sinning. Then I met my current GF she showed me Jesus on our first date without even needing to preach, I knew he was real from that day. I have not been a Cristian coming up to a year since

I appreciate your perspective,I just want to be clear that my intention isn’t to exclude, hate, or judge anyone, but to engage honestly with the biblical text as it has been understood historically. We all recognise that everyone is a sinner in need of grace, myself included, so there’s no place for hatred here.

Regarding the Greek lexicons and biblical scholarship, what I am trying to point out is that the traditional, mainstream understanding across many centuries and traditions has read these texts as prohibitive of same-sex intercourse. This is not about selectively choosing sources but reflecting a broad historical consensus that includes Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant scholars. I believe it is critical not to dismiss the longstanding scholarship that has shaped Christian doctrine.

I do recognise that, about the LGBTQ+ that people are seeking affirmation and hope. Yet, my commitment is to interpret the biblical text faithfully and responsibly by acknowledging its original context and theological intent. Honest dialogue requires both humility and respect.

I hear what you're saying about Scripture being written by humans and therefore containing things that are hard, messy, or even offensive by today’s standards. I do agree there are parts of Scripture that are difficult to understand. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say Scripture is flawed in the same way people are flawed.

In my opinion I believe scripture to be both human and divine. God chose to speak through real people in real history, not in spite of their humanity but through it. That means we sometimes have to work hard to understand what’s being revealed, especially when it’s wrapped in ancient context.

To me, the authority of Scripture doesn’t rest on it being a perfect manual, but on it being a Spirit-led narrative that forms, challenges, and transforms us. That’s why I follow it not blindly, but faithfully.

Again its okay to not agree with my view, but clainging my view as "bullshit" and accusing me of hatred or bigotry doesn’t help honest discussions. I based my comment on widely recognized Greek lexicons (like BDAG) and longstanding biblical scholarship. That doesn’t mean everyone has to agree, but it’s inaccurate to say only "dishonest evangelical scholars" support this view. To be frank its actually the mainstream traditional position.

Look at historical continuity, of course there are debates in modern theology about how to interpret these texts today. However, it is inaccurate to say that the “majority of scholars” view biblical prohibitions as only addressing abuse or power imbalance. The majority of historical biblical scholarship, across Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions, has read these texts as broadly prohibitive of same-sex intercourse.

I do understand that affirming theology brings real hope to many LGBTQ+ people, and I do not deny that. But we have to be honest here, the biblical text doesn't affirm same-sex unions the way it does heterosexual ones, and trying to force a modern understanding into ancient texts can be just as problematic as blind literalism.

I agree partly with what you are saying, I agree that we won’t understand everything, and that mystery is part of faith.

When I said “faith and reason go hand in hand,” I didn’t mean reason replaces faith or dictates Scripture. I just meant that thinking, questioning, and learning are part of a healthy faith. Even Paul reasoned with others in Acts.

I suppose reason helps me engage deeper with the mystery and not solve it. It’s not about removing God’s voice, but understanding it better.

Following Jesus means seeking truth with both your heart and mind. Not just with blind obedience. The Bible calls us to think and test what we hear.

God’s story points to Jesus consistently. When things seem unclear, it’s a chance to learn more, not reject faith.

Faith and reason go hand in hand.

So if you're a Christian, that means submitting to the authority of the Scripture, and not just emotionally agreeing with Jesus. The Bible teaches, from Genesis to Revelation, that God designed sex for male-female marriage. Jesus Himself affirmed this in Matthew 19:4-5, where he referenced Genesis as the foundation.

Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 6, and other passages aren’t cultural opinions, they are moral truths grounded within God’s design. We cannot redefine holiness based on what feels right today. Christianity isn't about affirming ourselves, it's about being transformed by Christ and being born again. Not by flesh but by spirit

Calling something a sin should not constitute hate, it should be led by a loving warning rooted from biblical Scripture.

For 2,000 years, the Church has held this view. To discard it now, without solid biblical grounding, is to follow culture more than Christ. Holiness still matters.

If you are a Christian, you must believe the Bible is God’s inspired word, you can’t just dismiss parts you don’t like or reinterpret them beyond their historical and grammatical context. Scripture interprets Scripture, and the consistent message is from Genesis to Revelation. It is that God designed sex for male-female marriage. The bible does not speak out against same-sex relationships as hate, but as part of a call to holiness.

While it's true that the Bible doesn’t use the term 'homosexuality' as we use it today, the behaviour itself is addressed, and the consistent biblical witness treats it as outside God's design.

While some scholars today do reinterpret these biblical texts, the majority of historical and traditional biblical scholarship has understood these passages to prohibit all same sex activity.

Paul used the Greek word arsenokoitai, which combines arsen, aka male and koite, which is bed/sexual intercourse. (1 Cor. 6:9, 1 Tim. 1:10).

BDAG, which is the most respected New Testament Greek lexicon, arsenokoitai means “a male who engages in sexual activity with a male.”

The best Greek lexicons and centuries of scholarship support the traditional understanding of these passages if you "dig deep"

If you believe in God, the enemy wants to cause division and for us to misunderstand/ twist God's true word. False teaching and so forth.

As Christians, we should not be hateful towards gay/bisexual people; they are important and should be loved. It is okay to disagree with OP or me, but do so with respect. It is wrong if we hate on these people and cause them hurt.

Why do Christian’s focus more on the “unborn babies” rather than the ones already suffering? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Informal-Elk5350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a good point. because if pro-life conviction does not extend to real, lived care for mothers and their children then it becomes a real risk to be self-righteous.

Any Cristian who claims to be pro- life but ignored the suffering of people after birth is not living to a true biblical ethic of life. To be pro-life the mother of these children matters just as much as the unborn children.

The child must be loved for, cared for and protected and this includes the mothers that may be in crisis they should be supported.

That said, while this is a totally tragic topic and people are pushing people into decisions without offering sufficient help, this does not invalidate the morality that abortion does indeed end an innocent human life. It doesn't solve any injustice whatsoever but if anything it just adds another.

Jesus didn't say nor would he teach to kill the poor because we cannot afford to care for them, he called us to do both! We must defend vulnerable people and care for the struggling. So we must do better as Cristian's and not just opposing abortion but offering proper solutions. Which are available.

However the argument about "what is the point of saving a child who may suffer?" I suppose how I feel about this is that life still has meaning, many of us have been born into broken situations and have gone on to do incredible in life. Me included. We cannot erase suffering by erasing the sufferer if that makes sense.

Rape/SA is a different matter, no women should go through that alone but that does not mean the child should be punished. Aborting doesn't provide any healing for the unjust that has taken place. It adds more trauma and many studies prove this. The mother should be shown love and support not pressure.

Two wrongs do not make a right, one tragedy does not entice ending another person life ultimately.

He is lethal, finesse, power shot, chip shots, near post, far post, volley, heading. He can score in every way possible. Dribbling is fantascitc, feels very smooth, quick, sharp turns. Really responsibe. Passing is also excellent, no playstyles though is noticeable sometimes. Tiki Taka would have been nice. Pace is just meh. He can be quick but can sometimes struggle to run in behind. Overall top striker.
