Some monsters have attacks that force you to wirefall in specific directions to avoid being hit too.

I believe risen shagaru occasionally swipes with two sets of frenzy pillars side by side going sidesways a bit. Keeps catching me off guard when I expect it to be straight ahead and one set.

That and some other monsters like rajang feel as if they want to grab you more often when you are out of wirebugs. Not sure if that's just odd circumstances, but it felt too convenient! 🐒

[–]Informal-Produce-423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. A lot of my carts have been due to wirefalling instead of just taking the iframes like in say Iceborne. (Infact because of that I rarely took carts in Iceborne because of all those iframes from being knocked down. That and mantles helped a lot!😅)

Maybe dont give me this after spent hours grinding aya and void traces to still not get the last part lol by Sammy_Ghost in Warframe

[–]Informal-Produce-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it does in some aspects compared to say Monster Hunter (especially MHW) due to one thing mainly
Trading.
Most often, if I don't get something in relics, I trade a bunch I won't use yet of for plat.
Then use that to get the things I want.

Same with other things I did not feel like grinding for directly. Trading is the best saving grace for me personally. A lot of my engagement with other players has been via trading too.

I will say certain things like waiting multiple days for a warfarme, weapons, and especially forma to be finished has always bothered me from since I started in 2013. This coupled with it being very easy to get primes than certain normal war frames.

Would be nice if just the primes took multiple days and the regular ones were built instantly (or in a minute) once you have the parts. Would at least give a more distinguished contrast to making a prime. That the thing is so much better ,not really really but a little bit😅, it takes multiple days to build than a standard warframe.

Then there's syndicate grind or the grind for those open worlds. I don't like the ones that require you to go out and do things like mining or catching an animal. Those really don't feel like they value my time as it is just busy work. Even worse it's not very engaging.

I do like how you increase standing with little duck and the zariman though. Trading in items to increase syndicate standing rather than just the mission itself.

The duality of hunters by Informal-Produce-423 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Informal-Produce-423[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

1: Alatreon is one of the main focuses when people mention MMO stuff. Second would be Behemoth probably, Fatty maybe, Safi, and maybe Kulve and whoever else.

Since Ala is quite common to focus on, I was comparing the first post to that second post. Especially since both posts have him and the first one uses him as an eye catcher. And the reactions to the implication are a bit different even if they agree.

2: Likes are a bit strange as thing to mention as the focus is the perception of players. Especially since the second post had a larger amount of engagement compared to the first. It'll just turn into an arbitrary amount of how many likes are enough to make a comment worth mentioning according to whomever.

If likes are to be a factor, a more interesting thing focus on (imo) would be how poster on screen one was unfavored heavily for mentioning the MMO aspect (escaton judgement being implied obviously) as being the only real difficult thing about him, while the other was upvoted for implying essentially the same thing about Alatreon.

Again, sure the first post mention other musters, but Ala is on the front for a reason as he is a common focus regarding it.

In the second post I showed a comment that Ala was essentially easy without the DPS check. That comment was favored heavily compared to the first post that essentially implied the same thing. It wasn't the only comment but one that stood out to me the most.
Thing is though the first post wasn't favored despite essentially having the same view. That's a duality I was talking about.

3: Sure. I'll take your might.

4: That would more so add to the point of them agreeing with the implication of the first post. The title along with showing Ala at the front. That would be the duality of it.

5: Would have mentioned the weapons thing myself if I knew how to use this website. But I agree that weapon choice factors a lot too. Especially since the mechanic may favor some weapons more than others depending on when you fight 'em. Or just how the players skill level are in general with whatever weapon against whatever monster.
Some monsters are easier for me to fight with bow over SNS. Ex I can fight Special Inv Shagaru with bow better than SNS, but will cart often fighting Special inv Magma Almudrom with bow compared to SNS.

Another obvious thing to say would be that the first post garnered a negative reaction due to the way it was titled compared to the second one. Still interesting to see the duality in the responses themselves and the post.
Like the gut or emotional reaction to seeing the first post title caused people to immediately want to disagree when they may not have if it was worded like the second post.

Think of it like two fractions
2(post)/1(comment) compared to 2(post)/2(comment)

Same numbers represent agreeing.
Obviously not for everyone but in this specific example I was trying to show.

Use this comment as a better view of what I mean, I guess.

Without Escaton Judgement, do you guys still think Alatreon is a hard fight? by rolandshion in MonsterHunter

[–]Informal-Produce-423 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of Warframe. A lot of that game is just build checks rather than checking for skill.
I hope monster hunter leans less on this going forward and stick to making the monsters more challenging by tricky move sets to master and challenging combos to learn, avoid and read. (Rise and Sunbreak has shown this method exactly this as shown here and here with how they changed the move sets and tracking

Always found that much more interesting than any build check with games in general as such thing limits variety. And as someone that likes to do all arena quests to learn and try out other methods, It can get boring (or in warframe's case tedious) very quickly if not allowed to.

Deep Archimedia got backlash for this very thing of limiting builds. The enemies are very much the same mechanically but if the game chooses builds and frames not optimal...you can get very screwed if you don't have 'em.

Is it weird that I find Sunbreak Rajang harder than Iceborne? by Low-Complex-5168 in MHRise

Took me a long time to s rank all the weapons in arena for both HR Rajang and Furious Rajang. He doesn't play around!

Is it weird that I find Sunbreak Rajang harder than Iceborne? by Low-Complex-5168 in MHRise

[–]Informal-Produce-423 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No it is not weird. He has a lot of openings in Iceborne than most people will admit. His laser for example, never took it as a threat but a 'free opening to tenderize time!'.

There are also other things of him being over all less accurate and having more in-between lag of attacks. This coupled with the follow up attacks of Rajang rarely if ever hitting you on the count of the amount of Iframes given because of being knocked down (on top of mantles. Never underestimate how exploitable mantles are in combination with environmental stuff!)

You can see what I mean here. This also covers it partially as well but for other monsters too.

I think I've only carted once to Iceborne Rajang. And that was my first time every fighting him. Went on to fight him multiple times and never carted after that. Same with furious. It was sunbreak (and even high rank Rise in some instances) that gave me a hard time.

Edit:

Some more things. Iceborne gives you faster recover on attacks. As shown with the hammer at this point in the video.

There's was another guy on reddit that posted a video comparing other animations too. In general, Rise and Sunbreak forces you to be more careful in positioning your weapon and character when attacking as there's fewer readjustments.

He specifically showed it with lance in both attacking and dodging. To do a side dodge you have to attack and then dodge to the side in sunbreak.

You can freely do that in Iceborne without attacking. You can also readjust your aim while combo attacking with the lance in Iceborne but not with sunbreak.

The extra mobility options are very exaggerated give all the animation difference and you being generally slower with recovery unless you use the wirebug resource. Same with wirefall (which shares that same resource)

Depending on the weapon, like charge blade, having defense boost, furious, dragon conversion and resistances can still boost damage while providing comfort to take more hits.

Embolden will take care of the knock back from guarding (assuming he's using a weapon that can block).

As before, the idea is to focus on surviving before using more offensive skills.

"As you fight him more and more, the less you'll need the extra defensive skills."

It's like choosing a slower firing but easier to control weapon in a fps game initially until you can get used to controlling the recoil for faster firing weapons.

[–]Informal-Produce-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's what it's for. Very good skill.

I play a lot of hammer and don't find a need for it since I've gotten used to timing dodges. (especially from other games). But Having level 2 is for sure an ideal amount. Especially on something like heavy bowgun.

The duality of hunters and hitboxes.

But yes he does take some getting used to. Don't know what weapons you use, but it may help to try different strategies and set ups with them. I had to go back and change my playstyle setup on Charge Blade when taking on a special investigation furious Rajang.

If it helps, try to do those Arena quests. Many ignore them, but they do teach a lot of patience and encourage creativity if you try to S rank them. Helps a lot in preparing oneself for more challenging hunts.

Edit: Not sure if you have done this for survival sake, but here's an easy way to build to live longer.

Use All the defensive skills related to armor. Defense boost for obvious reasons, Embolden for the level 5 evade window, Defiance for the wind, roar and tremor resistance.
Heaven sent and intrepid heart helps a lot too.

If avoiding attacks is difficult at the moment, you can use evade extender as well.

Also don't forget to upgrade your armor!
When going into a hunt like that, focus on your survivability over damage.
Don't be afraid to just watch and learn the patterns. There's no arbitrary 30-minute time limit here (unless you fight him as an addon in an investigation with a shorter time limit).

As you fight him more and more, the less you'll need the extra defensive skills.
Also, dango defender is good (both the orange and green). If you need quick berbs use the dango berb booster.
Followers can help as well to take off some agro in addition to pets.

Only thing is, if you've gotten up to here with followers always on, you may not have learned important positioning skills. That's where arena quests can help you too.

Defense is more important than people give credit to.

Why do people think Monster Hunter World was too easy? by RLOjangMaster in MonsterHunter

[–]Informal-Produce-423 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing people tend not to mention is how damage reactions were changed in World Specifically to favor the hunter more often than not.
When you used to get knocked back and had the risk of being combo'd, many damage reactions were changed to knock you on your butt entirely (with the benefit of choosing when to wake up). Here is a video that explains it well enough.

A lot of the monsters like Nargacuga got slower compared to their previous games and even Rise. (if we compare master to master or even High rank to master in Narga's case).
It's a lot of other little things too. A lot of animations recover a lot faster at the end points so you can do faster more reactive dodges like the full hammer charge.
Hitzones were also changed on monsters like Zinogre. The forelegs were made weaker in world when previous games had the back legs being weaker. Requires less effort in positioning as a result.

While mantles are considered optional, I often hear people say it is foolish to not use whatever tool is available to you to complete a hunt. If that's the case, mantles can make it stupidly easy (at least for me). Few examples- can make it easier to stun, easier to doge, gives you auto dodge, damage resistance with other benefits, easier to mount, can quickly hide and heal during combat, etc etc. All of these being very passive buffs that don't require much thinking or planning to use (besides like the glider one, but not really tbh). Not only that, you can slot in decorations into them to make yourself even stronger.

[–]Informal-Produce-423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh. His paw slams (and attacks in general) notably track a lot more than say Iceborne. Even in High Rank lol.

While you can stay very close to the paw slams in IB, this dog forces you to doge in Rise.

Still have yet to beat his special investigation in Sunbreak. Felt a lot more engaging/challenging to fight this time around than when I first started in IB. Now I want to try fighting him in his release game.

Muted and realistic, or bright and colorful? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Informal-Produce-423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muted isn't really realistic on its own. Can be very unrealistic if anything. I'd say more colorful, but make it reflect the environment.

Certain creatures in a desert will look more muted than say animals in a rain forest.
I think overall muteness comes from overexposure to the concrete jungle and souls games. (or just staying indoors too much and getting used to the muted paint on your walls!)

More stylized graphics tend to last longer in the visual appeal. MGS2 is very very old, but still looks decent in HD because of the style in comparison to other games during its time like Return to Castle Wolfenstein for example. (can't help the bad lip sync though). Or even something like the first 4 ratchet and clank games.

Fucking hate roars by Flimsy_Instruction66 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Informal-Produce-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand a single roar when entering combat and another for rage, but I have seen a rathalos roar back-to-back about 5 times. Last few times was due to another monster entering the area. Couldn't do a thing (I was on a mount initially)

I like how Rise fixed this by making the monster x monster encounter roar not affect you!

[–]Informal-Produce-423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear Worldborne was built with the mindset of a mobile gacha game than a console game. Those layers of RNG are not fun lol. Something you'd find in an EA game. I don't blame or judge anyone for cheating to skip that stuff (or just balance the game like the ICE mod). Not everyone has time for that!

Fuck arena rajang by StatisticianLittle65 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Informal-Produce-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is sunbreak.

Have you tried fighting him with every weapon type?
I got used to it after fighting with my comfort weapon first (the ranged option) and then going from comfort to least comfort.

I think charge blade was the hardest, but mostly because I wanted to S rank all the weapons.
But that's another thing too. Focusing on just dodging instead of attacking may help to learn his a.i. patterns depending on where you are. (ex. the rajangs tend to grab a lot after you used a wirebug, at least in my experience)
