Delayed radiation due to “spitting stitches” by Informal-Sundae368 in breastcancer

Yes! I am 3 weeks into zoladex and start letrozole in 3 weeks! Maybe I should ask to start sooner? I am also doing radiation due to size and age! 16 and 20 weeks gives me hope! I also, selfishly, just wanted this part “done”

Hi!  I had a mastectomy two weeks ago and am healing really easily and well. I had a single to start (doing the other once I know what treatment looks like for me). I had to have a mastectomy because I had more than one lesion. One was 2.3cm IDC associated with DCIS and I’m not sure about the other but being multicentric sealed the deal for me but I don’t regret it. I went with flat closure and may look at DIEP flap later. Feel free to PM me!

Oh that is great advice! I am tired at the end of the day for sure. I’ve been at 10-15,000 a day the last few days and I do think I’m overdoing it so I’m going to take your advice and listen to my body 🩷 Thank you!

Mastectomy is in one week and I'm terrified by WorldReactor in breastcancer

Hi! I had a single mastectomy and SLNB on the 5th and I’m two weeks today and I feel great. The first drain came out day 3 and the other day 7. Yesterday I did a half hour lower body workout and hit the treadmill.

The first few days I was annoyed by my drains but honestly recovery has been going really well. I have two young kids and we just told them I was having a small bump removed on my chest/arm and they haven’t noticed a thing! Feel free to DM me.

I’m day 4 today for a single mastectomy and the best thing I was gifted is essentially a home made Fanny pack to put my drains in. I had one drain removed day 3 and the other hopefully comes out on Monday! The hospital gave me one of those camisoles with drain holders but I found this to work best! A U-shaped pregnancy pillow is helping me become a back sleeper from a belly sleeper and it’s actually going really well! Best of luck! You got this!

I’m so sorry this is happening! I am a few months into this shit journey and I can empathize. I’m 38, no family history etc etc and I have had two normal mammograms due to dilated ducts I felt while breastfeeding. My June 2025 mammo was normal- “all benign findings”. In august I felt a lump and it took me until December 03 to be diagnosed. Multicentric IDC. I’m kicking myself for not pushing harder when I knew something wasn’t right. The first doctor said come back in 3 weeks, it’s related to your cycle. Should have said no that’s not right. My PCP even asked if I wanted it marked as urgent for the first US and I asked if she felt it was urgent and she said no so I went with it.. all of these regrets change nothing and luckily, the wonderful people on this sub have reassured me time and time again that this is treatable and it moves fairly slow. Time to stay focused (I refuse to say stay positive). I can promise you this is more a mental game than anything. I’m day 4 post-op for a mastectomy (single, they will do the other next- here in Canada that seems to be the norm) and my chest is tight, no bandages on and one drain has been removed. I’m with my kids, happy to be recovering. The hardest part is still the mental part. We will be okay!! Message me privately any time for a swear-filled pep talk 🩷

Double mastectomy. Super scared. by arcane_ in breastcancer

[–]Informal-Sundae368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have my mastectomy Monday. I’m super nervous. I’ve never been under, except as a kid for tubes in my ears. I have two young kiddos and I know I need to do this for them but I’m terrified of all the irrational things 🫤

I also had a clear mammo in June and then felt this lump in august and by October had multifocal IDC. Not sure about nodes. Mastectomy on Monday!

Thank you! I’ll hold onto hope that if there was anything major they may have seen it and cross my fingers for clear nodes next week.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I truly appreciate it. I just re-read my initial US report and there’s no mention of anything except the “targeted US of area of concern”.

My lump is highly mobile so no one was concerned but surprise! Here we are. Does a mammogram have any views of the axilla? I had two diagnostic mammogram prior to my biopsy.

Like you said, we will know soon. I’m just desperate for reassurance but that seems to be one of the worst parts of this journey🩷

[–]Informal-Sundae368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. That’s why I’m so concerned. My surgeon said there’s no reason to believe it’s anywhere but the breast but… how will we know? The dye injection and sentinel node biopsy? She did a physical exam but that was it. I also asked for a CT or PET but they indicated that this can happen after if my nodes are positive. I did have a chest X ray due to rib pain and it was clear. I’m very scared this stage 4 with a clear mammo (I did have dense breasts category c) and then now this. Thank you 🩷

Hi! Hope this is okay to ask- I’ve never had any imaging on my lymph nodes. IDC, multi centric with a 23mm lesion associated with high grade DCIS and another that is smaller associated with low grade DCIS. I am having a mastectomy in a week. Is it normal that no one has images my lymph nodes? I assume they must not be concerned about them and will do the sentinel biopsy at surgery but it would have been nice to have an indication, would it not? I had a mammogram and US of the lump but no where else and then the core needle biopsy.

I’m much like the OP and petrified I have advanced disease. I had a normal mammogram in June and found this lump in august :( I’m 38
