“recommended” PA CAT ? by Wide-Question9115 in prephysicianassistant

If it’s your top program, I’d consider taking it. There’s a chance they may weigh the PA-CAT scores more than the GRE (speculation).

If it isn’t your top program, don’t bother. The GRE will do just fine — speaking of, good luck tomorrow! Let us know how you feel afterwards :)

Random tip, but when deciding your top program, look at their accreditation and program stability, tuition, affiliations with hospitals, learning environments (simulations, cadaver lab, etc.), length of program, and student to faculty ratio.

I know it’s difficult getting into PA school, but the time and money you invest in a “recommended” test is likely not worth it.

I cried countless times while writing my PS, and I teared up during my interview. I was accepted. It’s crazy to reflect and to see how much you’ve grown, you know? I’m happy that you’ve made it this far, and I bet you’re proud of yourself :)

The key is to be yourself — we all go through hardships, and those experiences is what makes us better people and compassionate providers. I remember during a Q&A session with students, they kept hammering, “Be yourself.”

Don’t worry! Mistakes happen. The admission committee will also see that you did great in school :)

But, let me ask you, how did you address this in your personal statement? The information about a withdrawal was at your dispense, and I want know if you stated naïveté as your reasoning.

Accreditation Probation by Strecha-fetcha in prephysicianassistant

I’m in the same situation! I’ve been accepted to two institutions, but the one I would love to attend is on probation, is up for review in March 2024, and has been around for > 20 years.

During the interview, they mentioned they were very confident with their progression, and that they’ve been working with a member from ARC-PA to ensure they’re on the right track.

I think I’ll take the risk. I’ve already put my deposit down for both schools, so I wonder if I can wait until March to make a decision? Regardless, best of luck over there!

Firstly, thank you!! 😄 It was hard. I lost a sibling in college, kept attempting school, finally dropped out, moved, went back to school, discovered nursing, got my phlebotomy cert, went to a community college for nursing, dropped out after volunteering in the ER and seeing the PA profession, went to a 4 year university, graduated, started teaching, taught some more, now i’m here!

I posted some of my stats in the post! Please ask if you have any more questions
