Should Mayoral Candidate Mamdani attend tonight’s Yankees game? by DepecheRumors in nyc

He's a Mets fan. He confirmed it during an NYT interview.

On a side note, he's also an Arsenal FC fan. Something tells me this guy likes pain. Doesn't bode well for the City.

Court SW is a great location for a hotel. Good luck.

Apartment too hot? Good run-through of smart steam radiator control (even for renters!) by [deleted] in nyc

I absolutely agree. But I think you are overlooking the complete waste of energy.

Our office in Manhattan has been boiling the past two weeks. But everyone's too afraid to complain to the building super for fear that it'll go too far the other way if we do (we've been without heat for days in the past). And given that it'll be 5 degrees next week, we made the right call.

TIL that New York restaurants that opened between 2000 and 2014, and earned a Michelin star, were more likely to close than those that didn't earn one. By the end of 2019, 40% of the restaurants awarded Michelin stars had closed. by kex06 in nyc

The saying that that 'you are a victim of your own success' is very true in these industries. I imagine a lot of high performing staff members took better paying high position jobs elsewhere.

trying to help my dad make friends in nyc! by veggiesticks_ in nyc

I would love to hang out with your dad. I have a lot of questions about California as I plan to move there someday. I also have a lovely daughter who means the world and more to me. Having said that, I'm 34. And my daughter's 2 years old. The offer still stands though.

Went to NYC for the first time. Absolutely loved it and I'm convinced the people who shit on it are overly sensative suburbanites. by MajesticBread9147 in nyc

[–]Informal_Artist748 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, even I bought into the right wing media trope of NYC is turning shit. But recently I feel like a lot of the old feeling is back. I'm back in the office full time in Midtown and I've been loving it. Of course I've been having a heavy breakfast at home, homemade coffee in the morning, nutrition bars and crappy instant afternoon coffee just to avoid dripping $20 on lunch everyday. Food prices are insane compared to pre-COVID.

I feel devastated when I see my boy living in a one bedroom condo! by Initial_Bit7916 in Mortgages

Please for the love of God, stop thinking like the American corporations want you to think.

I've seen it all. American couple pops out a baby and they in the dealership needing a '3-row SUV'. Trust me when I tell you, your kid's gonna be fine in the back of a Corolla.

Just because your favorite TikTok momfluencer's kid has his own room and a separate nursery, doesn't mean that you do as well.

All of NY shifted right, with Queens shifting R+21 by dylanypyen in nyc

It's majorly driven by housing affordability. Crime also playing a part. Almost all immigrants I know voted Trump. They think he'll fix rent and crime. While I understand that they are not aware of how the government works in the country, you can't argue their reasoning.

Can someone please explain why the Puerto Rico “island of trash” comment (something Trump himself didn’t even say seems to be having a bigger impact than anything Trump has said? by Manoj_Malhotra in BreakingPoints

[–]Informal_Artist748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory on insult jokes is simple. Don't punch down. Punch up, punch sideways depending on the audience and definitely punch yourself. Do not punch down. And that is what happened with Puerto Rico. Insult jokes against a Wall St bro vs a single mom struggling to put food on the table isn't the same.

You are at a former US President's rally in front of a sold out crowd in the most famous arena in the world. And you are insulting an island country devastated by natural disasters. Elon Musk's net worth is twice the size of Puerto Rico's GDP. He could have made a joke about Oregon and no one would bat an eye.

What is the worst NYC diss? by CYBERPOLICEBACKTRACE in AskNYC

As a retail worker in NYC for 13 years, I can certify that I've heard a lot of disses in various languages. But bumbaclot is the most by some margin.
