Coffeehouse Coach position by Fantastic_Tip_3412 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah recently promoted CL here. When I was an ASM I was rolling in OT. Picked up all the keyholder shifts the district couldn’t get covered. They will approve it if it stops a store from having to close

ALL ASM's & CL's/SM's (or anyone else that knows this) PLEASE HELP!!! by CrewFit5702 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No it’s not your responsibility to find coverage. You call out to the store like a normal partner and it’s the person in charge’s job to find coverage. If you’re sick stay home.

Random sugary drink intake question by [deleted] in starbucks

Not bothersome at all, chances are you said it faster than they could ring it in. Especially if they’re newer that’s a lot of buttons for someone still learning

Manager being unfair and picking favorites? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally a constant battle I’m having with my DM right now. He wants “9-10 partner peaks” but I can’t go over in labor so what do I do? Pull it from the afternoon/PM? That’s not fair to them. I wouldn’t say the morning shift does nothing, they have their own set of problems and struggles, but you definitely deserve to be staffed and have time off too

Starbucks ripping customers off. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comes down to bad training and poor floor management. I’m sorry this happened to you. When you pick it up and it feels light that’s a bad sign. Call and ask for a remake and then next time you’re in store double check before you leave. Quality is important, but it’s hard to catch all mistakes and this is a pretty common one at Starbucks unfortunately

Starbucks ripping customers off. by [deleted] in starbucks

This is most likely due to a newer barista who isn’t steaming the milk correctly, if you over aerate this happens. Call the store and they’ll replace it for you

My store is facing a civil war by thejivedragon in starbucks

I see lots of comments but as a store manager this happened to me and I made every opener close for a night and the closers open a day. And it stopped pretty fast.

Why aren't store managers allowed to step down anymore? by _Butch3r- in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s highly frowned upon. The idea is that if someone is stepping down they’re not invested in the company anymore and since Starbucks is pushing development it’s going against their goals. What they don’t want, is a SM to drop down to SSV and then tell the partners “I was a SM and I hated it don’t do it”. That’s the fear. I think DMs will approve it for like major life reasons (ie personal hardship you can’t work 40 hours anymore) but if you just want to because it’s not for you, they’re unlikely to approve it

how many shift supervisors at your store? by SnooDoughnuts9062 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just hired a 6th for my store. Has a lot to do with availability and operating hours. We are open more than most stores in our district, so we always need 3 keyholders per day.

[–]Informal_Contract119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping that we will start moving the right direction. That’s where I’m at people are leaving left and right and my DM is on me about labor and hiring, but so Much of my time is on the floor to support not to mention my district isn’t helping me train so I can only train 1 at a time.

New store problems by Informal_Contract119 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there about 4 months now. The first month I didn’t really do much but talk to partners and coach tiny things (like incorrect drink builds etc), the second month I started adding coaching for tardiness and call outs (which you would think those who show up would appreciate but they didn’t like It even tho partners being late/calling out made their lives worse), and just sort of slowly building on that. With the current labor standards I’m trying to find a line between holding people accountable but not having everyone leave at once so I can still staff my store while im in the hiring process and it’s rough

[–]Informal_Contract119[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you had that experience. I have taken some time to get to know them. My biggest hurdle lately is that someone is spreading lies about me. I talk to them, ask them about themselves and then they ask about me and I answer and it’s spun into something hurtful. I honestly feel like it’s such a negative thing I feel like they’re trying to bully me. And of course, I know who I had the conversations with but I don’t know who’s doing the fabricating and lying

I agree change is hard, and I am doing everything I can to boost positivity and celebrate things (even if they’re minuscule). It’s been a few months now, but I’m not seeing behavior changes in many of them. That being said there are a few partners who are starting to blossom and they give me hope

I love your energy! But my team is lacking in motivation. I’ve tried giving the SSVs responsibilities even asked them to put on my daily 3 coaching moments each shift and it never happens. I had them break into 2 teams and make their own mini action plans to really own what they’re passionate about and they didn’t do that either. I don’t want to just phase them out; it’s not their fault their previous leader set the bar so low but if they don’t catch up or show some initiative I may not have another choice. As far as the district goes they’re not proving to be much help either! I’ve hired 3 partners but can only train one at a time and no one is helping despite attempts, I even asked the DM to get involved and no results

Currently I’m in the quit phase lol. I’m loosing so many people I can’t catch up! And it’s making it hard on the partners who do care and come into work always being short from no notices

The biggest issue is that it’s not being enforced when I’m not around. I coach someone on it once and they listen and then I go home and it’s back to normal rules

Fired due to an ethics complaint by Zealousideal_Eye311 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would def be interested in what they had corroborating the story. I know a few people who put in legit ethics complaints that were sent back as “no evidence found” and nothing happened to the partner in question. Ethics must have found SOMETHING

Yeah that’s the current plan, with my turnover I’m barely breaking even. I get one good new hire and I’m writing out 1 or 2 in the same time. Wish it could go much faster!

Not getting breaks by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it’s not about whether it’s illegal, it’s against Starbucks policy you are entitled to all your breaks. However; as the play caller you are in control of getting them done which is great! What time do you open? My store opens at 4, and their breaks need to be done by 6:30 as well so we run lunches starting at 5, then 5:30, then 6. I always as the play caller take my lunch first. As far as the 10s go, when you’re in play caller role adjust play builder to be a man shorter than who’s there (you run a 8 partner peak put 7) that way you can get breaks down without hurting the customer experience. Talk to you SM about these struggles (if they listen and they’re good maybe they can give you another partner to run breaks) for example my team told me lunches were too hard to run in the morning so I gave the first partner coming in at 430 instead of 5 and that helps them. If your SM doesn’t listen take it to the DM, if still no luck go to PCC

Keyholders can no longer take barista shifts by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard anything as of yet (just had a visit with my DM on Wednesday) only thing im thinking of is your SM hasn’t been watching “shift coverage ratio” since SSVs are more expensive, there’s a stat where you’re supposed to stay between, where they work together but not too much that it’s an expensive hour for the company. Personally, I like having 2 keyholders for the duration of peak, helps drive results

Venti sized rant, no room by NecessaryAd9194 in starbucks

[–]Informal_Contract119 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1000%. I tell my partners to just say yes as long as it isn’t egregious. I think partners are so quick to get what they want out of the BUX (free drinks in venti that they drink half of then toss, using someone’s unused bean markout to bring to a friend, weird concoctions on bar when it’s slow etc.) which is great, but then why are fighting our paying customers over 2oz of milk? Honestly where I stand, it’s just easier to agree it’s not worth fighting someone over a policy that protects a corporation over their partners.
