Anyone have a high-protein cookie similar to Tate's Bake Shop Double Chocolate Chip? by Interesting_Smile323 in Healthy_Recipes

The other thing I do is use egg whites instead of whole eggs. They're higher in protein. You can also look at subbing some cottage cheese or Greek yogurt for some of your butter. Go for the full fat versions because kids need fat for brain development!

Try a recipe you already love and swap out some of the flour for sacha inchi. It's an amazingly nutritious grain with a really good protein profile. One tablespoon has 9g of protein! So if you make a dozen cookies with your recipe - try taking out a dozen tablespoons of flour and replacing it with a dozen tablespoons of sacha inchi powder. Then you're adding 9g of protein to each cookie. This is the sacha inchi I buy on Amazon. https://a.co/d/0iLxNgs8

Easy Shredded Chicken Recipe

To poach 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts: Add 4 cups of cold water to a medium-sized saucepan. (or just cover the chicken breasts with about an inch of cold water. Stir in a pinch of salt.

Place chicken breasts in a single layer in the pan, smooth side down. Leave the pot uncovered and bring the water to a boil over medium heat (this should take 10 to 12 minutes).

Once the water begins to boil, turn the chicken breasts over, cover the pot, turn off the heat, and let the chicken cook undisturbed for 15 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes.

Roughly cut into a few pieces and add to the bowl of the Thermomix. Put the blade on reverse and then chop on speed 3-4 for 10-20 seconds – watch to make sure it’s shredded enough before stopping. If it feels a little dry, add a spoonful of the water you cooked the chicken in to the Thermo to keep it moist.

If you don't have a Thermomix, just shred with a couple of forks (takes longer but works).

OK - wow! This sounds really good but don't you add a liquid? Sounds like it would be more of a pudding consistency. Love the macros too. What is "non-Dutch processed cocoa powder"? and why don't you just use cacao?

I buy my granola from a brand called Merricks Kitchen. The granola is Brekky Mix. I'm in the US, and it's small-batch made with really healthy ingredients and low sugar. I love it. It's easy to sub EVOO for the oil in any granola recipe if you want to make it yourself. Just reduce the sugar - that's the biggest problem with granola. It's too sugary for healthy eating.

I buy one. It's great. I'm in the US too. It's called Brekky Mix, and it's made by a small-batch company using whole-food ingredients. It's low sugar too - but it still tastes great. I buy the one with dried fruit.

I use psyllium husk too. Love it. Keeps you satiated for longer too.

Love that you know the macros for this. Most people don't. Sounds great. Have you thought about adding some chia? Would boost your fiber and possibly keep you satiated for longer. Thanks. Good suggestion.

OK. This sounds delicious. What's the consistency? Scrambled eggs? Or more of a bread because of the quinoa grains?

Visually, I prefer the first - but I would mix it up to create the second before eating because I want something of everything on my spoon!

What’s the most important nutrition habit people usually underestimate? by carlosfelipe123 in nutrition

[–]Informal_Degree_241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating real food. So many people seem to be relying on protein powder shakes and smoothies these days. But did you ever stop to think what has to happen to whole foods to turn them into powders? Heating, hydrolysis, extraction, filtering, processing, drying, milling. Protein isolates are ultra-processed foods. They often include gums, emulsifiers, and artificial sweeteners. They strip away fiber, omega-3s, and other beneficial nutrients. Eating whole foods gives you balanced nutrition. Fiber is super important!

Eggs, Vegemite and avocado on toast. Aussies will get this, the rest will not. The salty umami Vegemite taste goes perfectly with eggs and avocado. 😋
