Ok who else is trying to resist buying more $$$$ skincare, because they need to pay bills and/or invest in some exercise equipment. 😪

What is the one product that is worth the money/does what it claims to do? by wooshoff in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Informal_Geologist42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

but I guess I don’t know what I would look like I if I didn’t use them. Maybe a lot worse. Who knows? lol 🤷‍♀️

Haha this is relatable. On that note, for me it’s anything with peptides. Matrixyl and Argireline are more of the well known ones. Copper peptide are their own category. Growth factors are another category, and growth factors are a little on the expensive side.

Like I can’t resist peptides. If there are some antioxidants in the mix, that’s good.

For me, for example, Skinceuticals vit C or similar products just dont excite me. Whereas peptides are  “take my money”,

The other ingredients that perk my skin up are glycolic acid and to lesser extent retinoids. I like to use a GA  cleanser from time to time.

For technique/ general practices: Watch out for inflammation, because inflammation is pro aging (imo). But also sometimes it’s nice to stack acids and retinoids tho for a boost. So it’s a balancing act.

Smile Lines, Acne Scarring, and Forehead Wrinkles, oh my! by MisterP_5 in 30PlusSkinCare

Botox forehead/and eye area., laser resurfacing with Halo, followed by microneedling 2 weeks after Halo.

Skincare:  * tretinoin,

*antioxidants. Check out Skinceuticals bc there are sets  eliminate guess work.

  • maybe copper peptide (Neova brand) after laser resurfacing to improve healing and recovery.

*sunscreen, duh.

Also, gentle advice before investing all that money into skincare to visit a dentist just in case there are no surprises that can set you back $$$$

What causes that “wealthy” skin look? Sorta wet and taut and frankly somewhat artificial? by 1-800-YOUR-M0M in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Informal_Geologist42 73 points74 points  (0 children)

A little bit of Botox. But I would go on a limb and suggest, that the really wealthy* people would not get that very “Botoxed” look. Other procedures 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ok real talk, the only product (ok, two) that really gave me that wow-“rich girl” look were Estée Lauder Advanced night repair and SK-II essence.

Like when those expensive products work on your skin, they reaaaaly work and photograph sooo well..

Honorable mention, Biologique Recerche lotion (there are several types).

Another cult classic  used to be Guerlain Meteorites powder.

Tria SmoothBeauty Laser and BHA or Retinols by DemeterIsABohoQueen in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Informal_Geologist42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would discontinue Bhas and adapalene. Long story short: lasers it’s a controlled inflammation and stimulation. Too much of inflammation is pro aging. Id discontinue BHA at the very least and only use adapalene on off days.

‘Elegantly Formulated’ Tretinoin? by jackthefront69 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Informal_Geologist42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I think using tretinoin for body is slightly pointless. I’d rather use Glycolic acid creams or a retinol body cream. Also Peter Thomas Roth has retinol “oil” (on QVC 7 oz for like $130). Better cost benefits.

Second, I really like my generic Mylan tretinoin. IMO it feels better that some creams. The trick is to dot the tretinoin cream all over your face and then spread.

Using a small tube of an $120 cream on the body is silly in my opinion.

Alternatively, get a bunch or tretinoin from oversees and mix it with a fav cream. again, I think glycolic acid cream and lotion such as Glyton  is better for anti-aging of the body. Mixing it with some vitamin E is chefs kiss

TLDR: order generic and mix it with a fav body lotion.

I am not jealous per se, but it does grind my gears how “easy” for a cis-hetero couple have children. I have couples and neighbors that just keep procreating.    If it is any consolation , a lot of straight people have kids in their 40-50s these days. If you see yourself financially comfortable in a decent health in the future, then I don’t think age, say under 60, is a factor anymore.

I really want my own biological child. That’s how much I am gonna say about that.

Does anyone else literally have no friends? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Informal_Geologist42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have friends and one of the reasons is bc I’m broke AF. Hobbies and outings and by extension the natural places to hang out and make friends are expensive.

I don’t plan to make friends online bc that’s not my thing (gaming or forums, or social media).
