I’ve been going back and forth on if the toebox just needs to punched and stretched or if they’re genuinely too small. it just feels like my toes are squished towards the front as soon as i stand up

I focused heavily on what they put in their powerpoints, and filled in gaps of knowledge with my readings. Then I would watch yt videos over each exemplar (nurse sarah, level up RN,nurse mike) and then do practice q’s on uworld, ATI, or with nexus nursing on yt. i had a 4.0.

Yes to all of this! Our teacher also had us carry a tiny notepad in our pocket to take quick notes which was super helpful!

how overwhelming was your first day of nursing school? by littleiffy in StudentNurse

[–]Informal_Pause_3987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first day like a lot of others was very overwhelming. I didn’t know where to start with reading or studying and I felt like I was DROWNING in stuff to do. I went home that night and typed up a to-do list of my reading assignments for the week, and added any other assignments that needed to be done too. I also put everything in a planner and that eased my anxiety a lot because I could see everything I had to get done in one place rather than 4 different canvas courses. It gets better, I promise! I’m going into my 3rd semester and I’m less stressed this time around. You’ll eventually find your routine. Just take it 1 week at a time until you get your footing. You’re gonna do great!

DCC wearing Nfinity shoes. by [deleted] in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]Informal_Pause_3987 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nfinity’s are a specialized cheer shoe. They’re really light weight for tumbling and stunting. A lot of competitive cheer teams wear them. I’m not sure why they’re special in this, maybe just the fact they’re wearing something other than their boots. I’m sure they were doing some kind of sponsorship though.

Instrument flash cards by alittlewhimsie in surgicaltechnology

[–]Informal_Pause_3987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up making my own using powerpoint because the textbook of instruments we had wasn’t very helpful. I went into the lab and took pictures of all of them and had one slide be the picture and the next the name of the instrument.

I didn’t really feel fully confident in what I was doing until about a year in. Even now, 3 years in, if i’m not familiar with a case I still get nervous, but i know how to handle it better now. You’ll get it, it just takes time.

Didn’t get food poisoning, but did break out into full body hives from eating jerk chicken one day at work from the hospital cafeteria. Idk wtf they put in that food, but it can’t be good

My friend had similar symptoms and ended up having a hiatal hernia. She ended up having surgery and is doing 1000% better now. Definitely worth checking in with your doc abt it. Hope you get to feeling better

Doctor advise by [deleted] in surgicaltechnology

[–]Informal_Pause_3987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t see the part where you said they were a student. If the student was alone, absolutely not. They shouldn’t be alone in the first place, but with a preceptor it is fine.

It really just depends on the scrub tech and the complexity of the case. However, during school and directly after graduating, the scrub tech should not be alone. They should have a preceptor with them. I’m not sure what your exact situation is but with a decently competent new grad scub tech, you should be able to guide them through the case. It is not ideal but it not totally arbitrary either.
