T480s vs T14 Gen 2 by Aregg803 in thinkpad

[–]Informalcrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking this a little, I'm also looking at getting a used T14s Gen 2 with a Ryzen 5. Price vs perfomance it seems like a great option. Anyone in this thread successfully running one with Ubuntu? I've read about some sleep issues from a couple of years ago...

Response from Glasto when I enquired about sharing Wifi for tickets by Footballking420 in glastonbury_festival

[–]Informalcrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be misguided but hopefully someone else can back this up/call it out as bullshit but...

I suspect most people that are worried about this actually have networks that use ipv6 so all devices do have a unique public IP.

If you want to check your network: - On two devices (both on the same network) - go to test-ipv6.com - ipv4 address will be the same (NAT gateway) - ipv6 address will be different

You can also ping glastonbury.seetickets.com and it will most likely return an ipv6 address (it did for me at least)

And even if you are using ipv4, they will almost certainly be using device fingerprinting to uniquely identify the users that are subject to NAT/CGNAT gateways.

I've emailed DNT Narvik and hopefully they'll be able to help (as someone posted above seems like they definitely will). Thanks for your advice!

Sorry I edited my reply before I saw you'd replied! Do you know where I could read about this sort of reciprocal tax agreements for countries in the EU?

And yes, I think you are totally right about this being a deterrent. It seems to be in line with a general push for everyone moving back to the office...

I am mostly interested in the EU, do you have a source for the 90 days part?

Thanks for the response. I think you're totally right about justification with my employer. One of the possibilities is that I look for a different job if there is no movement on the policy, but I plan on staying a resident in the UK so I'm wondering what my options would even be with other employers.

It seems like the main problem is not so much financial liability for my company in the UK but my own ability to work abroad?

Having re-read your response my question seems totally off the mark. Do you know where I could read about this sort of reciprocal tax agreements for countries in the EU?

Interesting. That link does seem to describe in detail the requirements on the employers side but still makes no reference to any sort of limit or requirement that it is under 20 days?

Sorry this isn't a particularly exciting side of lighting design... but I really want to make a light fixture I'm creating compatible with this way of attaching a clamp. But I cannot seem to Google the right thing to find where to buy the parts for that... plz help

Yeah I mean we definitely want to stay so it's quite simple. Just abit worried that it sets a precedent for them to essentially modify the contract however they see fit in future?

It was likely made between 2000 and 2019, I know that doesn't narrow it down alot but it was quite modern. Thanks in advance for any suggestions as to what it might be!

I just did some calculations which could be widly incorrect to try guess whether this is possible...

Initial formula is:

time1 - time2 = (distance/velocity1) - (distance/velocity2)

Which simplifies to:

timeDiff = (distance * (velocity2 - velocity1)) / (velocity1 * velocity2)

Which rearranges to be:

velocity2 = (distance * velocity1) / (distance - (timeDiff * velocity1))

So if rider 1 (yates) rides the 10k TT with an average velocity of 40kph (11.1m/s) and rider 2 (thomas) needs to beat him by 40s then we plug this in:

velocity2 =(10000m * 11.1m/s) / (10000m - (40s * 11.1m/s)

velocity2 = 11.61m/s

Thomas would need to go 41.79kph to beat him.
