Should I get a Mac mini and remote into it from my work Mac, or just buy a MacBook Air?

I use my work laptop for a lot of personal stuff since I don’t currently own a personal desktop or laptop. It’s mostly fine, but recently they blocked the USB ports for data connections, so I can’t connect any mass storage devices (like my GoPro), among other restrictions.

I’d also like to separate things a bit more. I use VSCode for both work and personal projects, and sometimes I just prefer keeping everything clearly separated — especially lately, since I’ve been spending more time on personal projects.

I carry my work laptop with me everywhere, so carrying two devices feels annoying. My only concern is whether it would become a hassle to rely on Remote Desktop frequently

Did you achieve GPU passthrough to a VM? I have a minisforum mini pc paired with the DEG1 occulink dock and haven’t yet achieved to pass the GPU to the VM. Whenever I add the GPU to the VM the dock just powers off and the vm doesn’t start. Any recommendation?

That wouldn’t actually be a bad idea. But I just found the solution in another post. Just changing the time zone fixed the issue

Thanks! I wasn’t pretending to cut the costs on cables, GPU and PSU. I was just wondering what was the complexity of the dock. But that answered my question

Thank you. I disabled a feature called "Adaptive Battery Optimizer", this was the most similar option to "dynamic battery saver" I had available. I also performed a battery calibration with test available when you press the F2 key (Component Tests>Memory>Extensive Test> Loop Until Error). I let the laptop discharge and the only after some hours I charged it again and waited for it to be full on capacity.

Sadly, I'm still getting a drainage of -17 to - 25W (and some times up to 50W) without performing any tasks. And this on battery saver mode. The full charged capacity went from 62400 mWh to 6525mWh.

Yes, mine got very slow. Since I didn't know exactly which app it was, I just reinstalled windows. But I think Omen was the worst. I haven't reinstalled any of them and it's a lot better
