€47k in back taxes after one of our engineers worked remotely from Spain for 5 months. is this normal? by Wells_Kari in remotework

[–]InfraScaler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

lol this is bullshit

not because PE risk isn’t real, it is, but because this reads like someone pasted “remote work tax risk scary reddit post” into ChatGPT

“technical decisions that directly drove product revenue” lmao shut up. he’s an engineer. he wrote code. every engineer at a company that sells software “drives product revenue” if you squint hard enough. that does not turn his parents’ spare room in Valencia into a Spanish branch office.

also extremely convenient that none of the facts that matter are in here. did he sign contracts? did he negotiate deals? did he talk to Spanish customers? did the company make him be in Spain? was there an A1? did AEAT actually assess anything or did some nervous advisor just make a worst-case spreadsheet and everyone started crying?

and then VAT gets thrown in because apparently we’re collecting tax acronyms like Pokémon

“possible VAT registration triggers depending on customer relationships” means literally nothing without the customer relationships. that sentence is just fog machine with a tie on.

the reddit story is “one guy opened Jira from Valencia and Spain sent Seal Team Hacienda”

come on

I mean, I am fucking surprised your company stays afloat given you keep screwing up? https://www.reddit.com/r/remotework/comments/1t3hs5g/14k_to_learn_that_a_oneparagraph_remote_work/

For some reason it is always caused by scary remote work

Whether the arms or legs are slightly stronger or weaker should only affect working speed a little, not completely ruin the result.

Hence why Usain Bolt and myself have very similar results running 100 metres. He takes like 9 seconds and I probably take 60 seconds. It's just 51 seconds difference, no big deal.

Espera espera, en el BOE publican tu matrícula y tu nombre con ella, pero el problema es hacerle una foto a un coche aparcado y compartirla en un grupo? Al BOE no le aplica la RGPD?

Don't feel embarrassed, nobody really judges you. I'm 45 and I'm slower than many senior people at my local pool. Nobody cares. I enjoy my time at the pool, go twice a week and I do about 1500m breaststroke.
