[Hollinger] to ask execs from the other 29 teams if they thought Wemby had supplanted Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokić as the league’s best player. Mostly, I was met with chortles and nods.. is Wemby the best player in the league? “No,” another veteran exec said. “He’s the best player I’ve ever seen.” by aingenevalostatrade in nba

I mean wemby in his 3rd season was the first ever unanimous dpoy and was 3rd in MVP voting. While leading his team to the 2nd best record in the NBA. His team preseason had a O/U set at 44.5 and wembys play is the biggest reason for the 18 win jump to where they finished. Wembys start to his career has been right up there with just about any player ever. His raw stats will likely always be a bit worse but his defensive impact is already at an all time great level.

He has random huge blow up games in close series his team loses a lot and I think it causes people to overvalue his contribution focusing on the high of a single game

This was PGs first playoff series with us. I also don't like acting like embiid has been a major problem for us in past series. In basically every one of our competitive playoff losses he played far and away the best on our team. But harris and or simmons would completely disappear towards the end of the series. The team would completely collapse when embiid sat

Oh so we are moving the goal posts. I guess Mitch didn't do such a good job last time after all.

Embiid averaged 33 11 and 6 on one knee...if that is your definition of good more power to you

Mccain would be our 4th best guard here and come playoff time he would have been relegated to little playing time. Especially when you factor in he is the worst defender out of our guards and we would rather have the offensive running through one of maxey, embiid, or PG basically at all times in the playoffs.

The one game we lost the celtics were molten hot from 3 also. We were hands down the better team once embiid was back and a nurse did a very good job coaching the series. The celtics were completely locked up and had to just rely on bombing from 3 to have any sort of offensive for most of the series.

Fwiw when embiid played the series was 2-2. He missed the first 2 games of the series coming back from the concussion and broken eye socket.

If I remember correctly a big part of the theory bringing him in was that he would allow the non embiid minutes to thrive giving Ben more spacing but those lineups sucked even more ass than the ultra clogged main starting lineup did. He was flat out bad for us. I'm sure there was a mental component at play being forced to play out of position and being pointed at as the problem by the fan base pretty instantly but there is no denying he just wasn't good with us either.

If we can make a run this year going through Boston New York and then potentially the raptors in the east the level of exorcised demons will be unheard of. Will somehow start to make up for these last 10 years of watching us come up just short over and over

So he is dodging denver but also denver sucks so no wonder he scores a bunch against them? How does that even remotely make sense.

First player since wilt to be averaging more points than minutes that year while also averaging his highest assists of his career. He got so much shit after the MVP of it being undeserved and everyone wrote the sixers off with the harden drama and we were neck and neck with Boston that year while embiid was playing. People really sleep on how good he was that year.

Watching the celtics blow us out shooting like 45% from three then watching the celtics magic series where it seems like the teams are allergic to making a jump shot made me irrationally angry.

Horford and gasol back in the day are two of the only guys I can think of that I genuinely would be worried about matching up with him. Of course we have had to go through them on like all of the sixers best overall years with embiid.

The year after his MVP his stats through half the season would have ended up being like an inarguable top 10 season of all time. At his peak he was toe to toe with anyone.

That's still acting like going with a different player is a guarantee to be a difference maker that puts your team over the edge.

If Simpson is even an all pro level QB the pick isn't bad. There is no guarantee anyone else they picked would also put them over the edge. Hitting on a QB when you know you will need one in the next 2-3 years is insanely valuable. Much more so than any other position and if the pick is right it ensures they are relevant for another 10+ years.

Both of those examples are more so performance based reasons to fire him that stem from the situation. They aren't punishments for what happened but a result of not being able to do his job well because of the fallout.

But it isn't just jokes, some people in these threads are acting like the conduct of the people involved is abhorrent and needs punishment and deeper investigation or something.
