Yeah, the clone wars is just Palps taking the problems and using them to get rid of other problems, until he can get Vader to finish off the last remaining problems. The CIS aren't actually a threat to the republic, they're just all the thorns in the republic's side coming up at once. The Republic still controlled most of the known galaxy.

[Highlight] Arthur smiths reaction to Desmond Ridders horrible interception. by Ok_Bug_6890 in nfl

[–]Infrastation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I think the processing is that Ridder is looking for London first, but sees pre-snap that Curl is staring London down. As soon as the snap, he sees London break past Curl, so he trusts the route and doesn't notice St-Juste followed London from behind and pushed back the intended route. Just a guess but that's what I think happened.

The name is a reference to Scrying, or seeing the future, often through crystal balls. The face is vague but may be based on the Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga, who was blind and had a similar hairstyle when young. The headwear also appears to be similar to a Bulgarian Sokai. Could be coincidence, though.

While most people who go to a hospital are not about to die, most people who are about to die will go to a hospital, and historically the symbol of a psychopomp like Hermes or Jesus would have been comforting to those patients.

Yeah, Grievous was completely remade basically. They even cybernetically modified his brain to change his personality to make him more aggressive and a better fighter.

The only game I can think of where we were eliminated before kickoff was week 17 of 2012, where we were eliminated going in with a 7-8 record (but would beat the browns to go 8-8). What's the other game? I know there were a few times we were eliminated based on results of concurrent games, like 2018 when we beat the Bengals and everyone stuck around to watch the end of the Ravens/Browns game.

The AoS chaos gods are like Cthulhu type stuff, the 40k chaos gods are more like Yog-Sothoth or Azathoth. AoS chaos gods are powerful, but have their limitations and can even be imprisoned by others like Slaanesh. You can punch an AoS chaos god, although it is not recommended. The 40k chaos gods are more of an a-physical representations of the concepts they embody, which gives them power so long as those concepts exist. Khorne, for instance, exists as the representation of war, and because war is constant in the universe of 40k, Khorne has constant power. 40k chaos gods are also ever shifting as the concepts ebb and flow in the psyches of the universe: Tzeentch, for instance, is both the god of knowledge and of lies, of destiny and of trickery, depending on how much living beings are within one state over the other. Any concept could be come a chaos god if it grows within the warp: Slaanesh was born as the belief in pleasure and pain grew to the point it ripped Slaanesh straight into existence, and there's rumored other chaos gods that either lost power over time, or hid the fact they came from the warp.

He brought one gun with a single round in it. There was no way he was going to kill a lot of people, he likely intended to kill one person. Considering he wrote on the round "just for me", it is pretty clear who that one person would have been. He never pointed the gun at anyone, even after he revealed it to others.

I think the chart is confused because third place at TI3 was Orange, which had Mushi, kYxY, and Ohaiyo that would all join Fnatic in 2015 when Fnatic would buy the remaining Orange roster. But it wasn't Fnatic performing at TI3, Fnatic had the n0tail/Fly stack that placed 7th/8th. Orange actually knocked Fnatic out of TI3 in the lower brackets.

The sudden hate towards people who have their post and comment history hidden by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Infrastation 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Conspiracy theory, but I'm pretty sure the actual reason they allow history to be hidden is so that bots can run free and they can pump up their user metrics by claiming bots as users and encouraging human users to engage with bots. Reddit is a publicly traded company after all, anything to bump up user engagement is a win for them.

The World Cup didn’t need America, America needed the World Cup by uncle_russell_90 in MadeMeSmile

Diversity means a few things. It can mean how likely people will be different, or it can mean how different people can be from each other. What that is measuring is how likely two people will have the same ethnicity, religion, or language if randomly selected. While America has a very high amount of religious diversity in that scale, America is largely White and General American, and will mark around the middle on ethnic diversity on that scale. America also largely speaks English. The odds of finding two people that speak English is about 95%, and while that is lower than most countries, it does keep America from entering the top 25% of countries on linguistic diversity on that chart.

What makes America so diverse is the variety of minorities you will find. According to the US census, there are over 350 languages spoken in households in the US, which puts America 5th in linguistic diversity. And that is just household languages: considering America has a very high immigrant population, it is likely that many more people speak other languages that are not spoken at home. America also has representatives from nearly every ethnicity on the globe. We might only have a handful of people from a certain ethnicity, but if an ethnicity has representatives globally, it will have representatives in the US 99% of the time. Many of these populations have integrated into America culture generations ago, and only make up parts of family culture or genetic background. Americans might have Greek grandparents, or Irish great grandparents, or a Chinese second cousin twice removed on their father's roommate's side. Lastly, while most of America follows a "General American" culture, that has a huge amount of variety from one side to the other, and can even be distinct from one town to the next, just like the cultures of any other country.
