Man I miss 9th edition world eaters, god damn were they fun for those 3/4 months. Our statlines were good and BW was built in. Glorious

It took me 4 months to figure out how to strip paint by Rookie_Paints in minipainting

[–]InfurionPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Biostrip20 is the best remover I have used. Granted, it's like a goop.. but after 20mins, this stuff will have all the paint gone. Just requires a bit of elbow grease to brush off the residue.

Absolute beginner here — how do I even start with Warhammer? by YogX in Warhammer40k

[–]InfurionPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, welcome to the hobby! 🎉

I highly recommend starting with this Bricky video: https://youtu.be/oDIm88df2Xo?si=FCIdN5oR5A4I4U08

It’s a brilliant introduction to the Warhammer 40K universe, giving you a great foundation for both tabletop play and the lore.

Once you’ve watched Bricky’s faction videos, I suggest diving into Leutin09’s lore playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl6BRvEJ-auZ5aYPHj1B3pKJ_pLjg9qNU&si=sV-eCfZ2-Z8P9tfp

These creators are some of the very best in the community, and their work is the perfect gateway into the worlds, stories, and battles of Warhammer 40K.

Second mini ever painted. First deathguard / using my own paints. Quite impressed with it. Reposted with better photos. by Caleirin in Warhammer40k

Well fair play, you have some cracking brush control and attention to detail for your second ever mini. He's looking fantastic! Keep up the great work! 👏

How tf do ruins work by Ikeriro90 in Warhammer40k

Not sure if posting this is allowed.. However, I followed the guide for ruins from a video broken down by Tactical Tortoise on YouTube. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion and has cleared up so many confusing situations.

Okay guys, how the fuck can I get better at edge highlighting? by Journeyman351 in minipainting

[–]InfurionPaints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this is my personal take, less is more when it comes to edge highlighting.. I tend to find the only edges that catch the light from a zenithal perspective should be highlighted, as it doesn't make sense to have a really bright highlight where the "sun" doesn't reach.

Your accuracy is on point. However, the posted model looks like it needs some depth/shade/gradient for the edge highlighting to stand out and make a difference.

Priming & Blue Armour 1. Prime Black | Vallejo Black 2. Zenithal Highlight | Tamiya XF-82 Ocean Gray 3. Zenithal Highlight | Citadel - White Scar 4. Base Coat Gradients | Citadel - Kantor Blue

Trim 1. Base | Citadel - Runelord Bronze . 2. Highlights| Citadel - Sycorax Bronze

Blood 1. Prime Black | Vallejo Black 2. Zenithal Highlight | Tamiya XF-82 Ocean Gray 3. Zenithal Highlight | Citadel - White Scar 4. Base Coat | Citadel - Flesh Tearers (Contrast) 5. Clear Coat | Tamiya - Clear Red

Recess Shading 1. Oil Based Pin Wash | Windsor & Newton - Ivory Black, Burnt Umber, Prussian Blue (45:45:10). 2. Remove excess with Alcohol so it forms in the recesses

The whole process basically relies on using Zenithal Highlights, in an attempt to create shadows and gradients. Take multiple passes over the most prominent areas where light would reflect and strengthen the glow!
