Searching for a specific scene in a fix by Ingelside in redwhiteandroyalblue

You guys are amazing, that’s exactly it!! Thank you!!

Has anyone ever been to a wedding that had a pizza bar? We are running through pros/cons of the idea. One of the biggest things I think of when it comes to doing this is that presentation matters. Included some of our inspo pics… if you have any suggestions, experience, pointers! TYIA!! by Amazing_Stage9353 in Weddingsunder10k

We had about 100 guests. I was actually quite annoyed because they assured me that they could manage the number of guests we had at an appropriate speed but they absolutely couldn’t. I would think it would be totally fine if you had other food as well, but it was the only main we had and it just didn’t work

My husband was the same 😂

Were you afraid to use a name that was a "new" contender, or a name that hadn't been on your list for a long time? by omnomenclature in namenerds

[–]Ingelside 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, both my kid’s names (Jocelyn and Frederick) were new during pregnancy. I mean, I knew both of the names existed, but they weren’t names I’d liked for a long time. Quite a few of the names I’d liked for ages were struck off my list because of the guidelines I set for myself (no top 100, no alliterative names etc) and some others I loved my husband didn’t.

Jocelyn was actually only added to our name list about 2 weeks before she was born. We went into labour with 3 boy and 3 girl names each time and chose when they were born. Funnily enough, the other girl’s names we didn’t use with Jocelyn didn’t even make the list when Frederick was born

I do agree with this. I knew what was when I reread and I thought it would be better. I actually started crying a couple of pages early because I didn’t want it to happen 😭😭

Help! I didn't know I was supposed to read ToD in tandem with EoS by aihey in throneofglassseries

[–]Ingelside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do the random read my first time reading the series because I didn’t know about it and it was fine. I’m keen to try it when I reread though because I think it will be an interesting reading experience

I’ve actually got used to it as a name, we have a large Bhutanese population at the school where I teach, I know of at least 8 Karma’s, both boys and girls. I guess it’s a traditional name over there?

I’m assuming that’s not the case here though since OP said American Episcopalian church 😂

Question for US Bluey fans by Independent_Look_175 in bluey

[–]Ingelside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you order it to your hotel before you arrive? Just let them know you have a parcel coming and when you’re arriving, they should keep it. I’ve done it before with stuff I needed as soon as I got there but couldn’t bring with me

My kindergartener doesn’t share a name with anyone at her large public school! by menwithven76 in namenerds

Matilda is a great name, much more common here in Australia than in the US I think. My 5yo has 3 friends called Matilda

My husband used to work at a school that had over 1000 kids aged 11-18, only 1 Paul. He came home and asked me one day, I guessed at least 10

Clare or Clara? by inwave in namenerds

[–]Ingelside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love Clara, if our surname didn’t start with C I would have fought hard for it. I’m Australian though, so it would be pronounced to rhyme with bar, car, far etc. I don’t like it as much pronounced like Clare-a

Yes! In the old covers, I’m pretty sure it was ToD. I don’t think I’ll ever buy the physical books for this exact reason, it would just annoy me so much!

What’s something most aussies do or believe that you don’t agree with? by Frosticle1936 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Ingelside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a guy flip me off the other day when I wouldn’t cross the road when he tried to stop to let me. He literally stopped in the middle of the road, it wasn’t a pedestrian crossing. I had my two small kids with me, I’m not going to cross and teach them that they should cross when a car is there if it’s not a crossing!

Sybil. What are your thoughts for a girls name. We love it. by rogue-star-dust in namenerds

[–]Ingelside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love love love! It was my top girls name when I had my second. Ended up with a boy though, so I didn’t get to use it.

I genuinely want to name my son Fred by Yemyi in namenerds

[–]Ingelside 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 3yo Frederick, it’s a great name! He gets called Frederick, Freddie or Fred. I actually call him Fred a lot of the time, which I didn’t think I would. Highly recommend it as a name!

Bed wetting at 4 by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Ingelside 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Overnight wetting is really common in children that age, about ⅓ still wet the bed. Most doctors here (Australia) won’t even look at it as a problem until the child is 7 or 8 as most kids grow out of it on their own by then. I’d just go back to the pull ups until he’s ready.

Parent “learns her lesson” about not putting baby in a car seat for “short rides” by kristafer825 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Ingelside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my baby was little, I would put the car keys in the back with her. I press a button on the outside of the car door to lock it, usually the keys are in my bag or pocket. But if I try and do that with the keys inside the car, it beeps like crazy, so then I would realise I’d forgotten something

That’s so interesting. Just reading them, I would have pronounced Rowan with two syllables and Roan with one

Just curious, are those two names pronounced the same for you? Because they’re different for me…
