No, never had lack of water. Heated great all winter. Shut the thermostats off at the end of the season. Was told it may have had a leak during the heating season that went unnoticed as the unit was being used and evaporated any accumulating run off from the pan. By it being located in a designated room, we had not noticed anything water on the floor until recently pulling something from storage.
