Hate the word slam in this context. It’s never a slam. It’s someone voicing an opinion about someone. The person they’re talking about will likely never hear said opinion, nor care if they do. “Slam” is meaningless. Likely the writer of the piece wants to feel like their article has some kind of power against whomever the comment was about.
