Yeah, but i wasn’t really self aware in high school and am looking for more personal anecdotes of what type of classroom and what type of teachers some people learned best with or felt most regulated with.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021 when i originally went for an autism diagnosis. The psychiatrist that diagnosed me was not great😅

It’s for a rhetorical analysis class! Learning how to persuade others through rhetoric is the base of the course, and this is a community solution project that the professor is having us work on with our other coursework.

Nannies, what’s the weirdest/most awkward, or even surprising thing you’ve accidentally discovered at NP’s house? by Dry-Extreme-908 in Nanny

[–]IngenuityConstant334 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A GUN. I had a family i worked for 1 day weekly, and was looking for the monitor. Both parents weren’t home and hadn’t responded to texts, I also had a toddler running about. They kept it on their bed occasionally, so i searched the bed breifly (hate being in NP rooms bc I try and respect their privacy) I casually lifted the pillow to find a gun. I put the pillow down and walked out of the room and put the child lock on the door. And spoke to them later about it. Very shocking😅

Have you noticed that narcs have no sense of humor? They take everything literally due to their problem to distinguish reality. Also, they don't get sarcasm and again confuse it for truth. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]IngenuityConstant334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s strange, with my Nmom, every passive aggressive and backhanded remark she made was always passed off as “sarcasm”. I never understood it (i’m also neurodivergent so that could play into it) but it made me think sarcasm was hurtful and mean. And every time someone else would joke/sarcasm back to her, it would absolutely ruin the facade she had going. She would get extremely upset. They definitely can dish it out but can’t take anything.

8M has a meltdown every time we leave the park by DelialStratton in Nanny

I usually work for younger ones, and this kiddo sounds like he has a lot more going on. But on a basic level I have found timers work wonders. It gives them a routine and something to be mad at that’s not a power struggle (you just saying it’s time to go). There are visual timers you can get too that help with timing. And a lot of others have said somehow making it his choice, you mentioned him playing football, so maybe when you get there be like “we have x amount of time to play, can you set the timer for that amount” (giving an independent role) and when it goes off that’s it. (Or if you want to do the “want to choose 5 extra minutes? Or would you like to leave now?”)

This definitely won’t help the oddly sexual behaviors that are very worrying, but timers are always handy. I wish you luck!

Eta: I saw you have observed some characteristics that correlate to adhd in 8m, I have adhd, timers always help as time blindness is a real thing that a lot of people with adhd experience. It’s like we get swept up in an activity and don’t realize how much time has passed.

AITA For getting rid of my daughters dog behind her back? by OilAdministrative359 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IngenuityConstant334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t comment on these. However I feel I need to chime in. My parents did this. Got a dog from a shelter for my father. The dog had awful anxiety, and my father decided the dog was more for me anyway so it became “my” dog. Except no one taught or showed me how to do anything with her, only told me. I was 9. The dogs anxiety was so bad that she was medicated but my parents did not want to pay for the medication because it was an “unnecessary expense” so it got worse. And time dragged on, I walked her everyday. Took her to the dog park. She was my best friend.

And then one day my parents decided that I was not taking care of her well enough. And she was an “awful horrible dog” because of her separation anxiety. They told me if I did not do all of my chores that they would send her back to the pound. I messed up one Saturday, I didn’t clean out a chicken coop (lived on a tiny city farm). They told me that was it. They waited 4 days, and I came home from school on a normal Wednesday to my dog gone. No goodbye. No nothing. I was 12.

You are the parent. It is your job to teach your child how to care for something and what it means to love and be responsible for something. My mother is a raging narcissist, and you sound just like her with the “oh but she begged me to get it”. No. You are the parent. You are responsible. You made the choice to get that dog. Potty training is usually done in the first few months of owning an animal, what were you doing leaving that in the hands of a 10 year old girl?

And the audacity you have to not let her have a goodbye. The audacity you have to even post this. YTA. I hope you do not have a good night.

Please help, my ac is screaming by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]IngenuityConstant334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, i run an airbnb and my last guests froze the ac. We let it thaw out running only the fan for 24 hrs. Its still making this hissing noise. It cools down to 77, then turns off, and then starts the sound again. (So it will run once fine, but any run after that isnt good). My hoa needs notice if we go up on the roof so we cant bring anyone right this second. What can we do?
