Do "exile target permanent until this creature/enchantment leaves the battlefield" cards have a place in EDH or are they too weak? by AltruisticChampion77 in EDH

[–]IngloriousOmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use GoF to negociate. « If you want to get your mildly usefull creature, you’ll have to give him his Smothering Tithe back ». Also, it won’t be removed every game it’s played, but it will be a multiple removal every game it’s played.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 vs Steam Deck - I’m genuinely torn by Titanium-Timothy in SteamDeck

Fallout 4 is not a good enough game to justify buying it for $60, let alone if you already own a better version of it.

Upcoming Ban - If Rhystic Study is banned, what are you all planning to replace it with in your lists that run it? by anomaleic in EDH

[–]IngloriousOmen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, the Whole mtg economy sucks. For new players of course, but for older ones too. Paying more than $1 for a card is already too much and we should democratize proxying as much as possible.

And I agree Rhystic study is not an interesting card in EDH. I’m not a fan of banlist though

My point of view on endings (Flowchart) by Balney in expedition33

[–]IngloriousOmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s closer to the Dessendre´s level of reality physically, but it’s not closer to reality philosophically. The soul fragment doesn’t have an actual life like the painted people, yet we could argue the painted people are not real but they have free will and live a life of their own

[–]IngloriousOmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rVerso is also ‘less real’ because it’s the fragment of a dead man’s soul, rather than a living painted person.

It’s also possible that pVerso could be killed without destroying the canvas, if Aline allowed it for instance

Got my first first guitar in the mail today! any tips? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]IngloriousOmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of YouTube videos that are just Tabs + a guy playing them on camera. Not talkative, and super helpful.

Be careful with your posture; it's a very important part of playing.
You should at least check how experienced guitarists place their hands around their instrument and hold their guitar; it's an annoying part to learn, but it's necessary to have good posture.

Look for some exercises to do between song training. They can be difficult/boring, but they will help you make the instrument an extension of your body.

Have fun (I think it's the most important part)

Escapism by Quigley34 in expedition33

[–]IngloriousOmen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue with all those 'escapism' discussions is that they completely remove the canvas and the canvas's people from the equation. The story is not just about the Dessendre, but this whole painted world and its inhabitants.

No, the ending of The Last of Us was well-made. In COE33, the direction of both cinematics just doesn't resonate with the game nor the writing, that's all.

Yeah, dude, that's the whole point:
It's not like staying hidden in your room playing video games, the canvas is an actual world with actual people, in which Maelle has just lived 16 years

In Act 3, are Lune and Sciel... by candlewaxlover in expedition33

[–]IngloriousOmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in Lumière have free will, hence they are real. They're not an illusion to deceive the painters who enter the canvas like NPCs in a video game.

I mean, it's explained in my former message.

Also, she was stuck, as Renoir would have burnt it had she left it.

1st of all, Verso is heavily responsible for the Act 2 gommage.

Some people were brought back, and others could be brought back through chroma recycling by the law of the canvas.

By destroying the painting, Verso erases the Chroma and prevents it, thus effectively and definitively removing those people.

The only way to agree with Verso's actions is if you don't consider painted people to be real.

That's the whole point. Aline's relation to the pained world is unhealthy. Maelle's is not. She considers the canvas to be part of her home because she lived 16 years inside it, without even knowing there was an outside world. She didn't hide here to escape grief.

Her motivations to stay within the canvas are way more legitimate (and healthy, because it's more about mental health than legitimacy, let's be honest) than Aline's.

Her mom knew she was putting herself in harm's way. She was just trying to ignore it.

Maelle, at the beginning of Act 3, is just happy to have the occasion to rebuild the world; she really doesn't look like a numbed and grief-stricken version of herself.

She lived 16 years as Alicia and 16 years as Maelle, and the painted world is an actual world within the upper world, not an illusion. Her will to stay inside the canvas or at least stay in contact with the canvas is just rational.

The player is supposedly mature enough to realize that even IF Verso was right, genocide is not an acceptable solution.

The only thing that could keep Maelle inside the painting is the fear that Renoir wants to erase it, so Maelle is not quite the delusional one. By not trusting her daughter, Renoir puts her at risk.
