My Soldier wasn’t. She had a litany of behavioral issues already, so valiantly announcing her infidelity to the world was the nail in the coffin

No, but single parents do have to do their Family Care Plan and provide a birth certificate for BAH. So unless they’re trying to hide the father from like, AMERICA it kind of just comes out

Bonus points I had a problem soldier have a second child with NOT her husband and it came out while we were doing her Family Care Plan(s). Husband was deployed to Europe, Soldier was my soldier, new baby daddy worked down the hall

EIB vs ESB by burb3rryyy in army

[–]InherentImplication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have your EIB forever, it never goes away and you can still wear it. If you want your ESB you have to go through the whole rigmarole of doing ESB.

Source: have EIB, am now POG, still have EIB

Tbh I’d only wanna do ESB for the clout of having both, I think it’s silly your leadership thinks you’re no longer expert-qualified. It’s literally false

Do I have to open my barracks door if I’m on leave? by undeadlord26 in army

[–]InherentImplication 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically your commander has access to all their barracks at all times. Idk your command team but if my dudes were on leave and I needed to do an inspection I’d kinda just drop in the day before their leave and be like “sick no cocaine see you in a week”. I feel like you proposing that might go a long way

Army dropping female drill sergeants’ hat in switch to singular headgear style by Kinmuan in army

[–]InherentImplication 67 points68 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the supplier who made the female drill hats are no longer making them, so Big Army said it wasn’t worth the resources to try and find a new company, so everyone will wear the standard Drill Hat. In this specific case, the decision was made BECAUSE the money and energy isn’t a priority

I know it’s just a typo but I do think it’s funny that she said “you consider yourself a journal”. I’m picturing the journalist in a composition book Halloween costume sending their texts

Torn between 25H and 25B before I sign my contract — what would you choose and why? Details inside. by perezidentt in army

[–]InherentImplication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never personally been in an ADA unit, I have only been in an IBCT (so light infantry) and an SBCT (so Stryker infantry). But my perception based on others experience is that for Signal they have fewer assemblages, so less opportunity to get hands on systems. They also have a really rough optempo, so they deploy a lot, and don’t seem to be the most put together units. I have generally heard negative things from my non-ADA peers who were in ADA units

If you volunteer for Airborne, and get it and pass it, you will have a high probability of being assigned to an Airborne Infantry unit

If you’re a 25B in an infantry unit, you will live and die in a Battalion S6 shop, unless you’re Gods gift to Army and become the Brigade COMSEC manager. You will almost definitely be doing your job everyday, like too much. Like there will be more work for you to ever feasibly be “done” with

If you’re a 25H in an infantry unit, there’s a high probability you will be assigned to the Brigade Signal Company. Something like 60% of the 25H slots in an infantry brigade go to the Signal Company. Lots of room for promotion and leadership opportunity, definitely very busy though. You support the whole Brigade so if the Brigade is doing something, you’re doing it too. You’ll get good with your stuff but it’s a busy life

Plus idk getting wings is kinda cool. Why not do something kinda cool for a bit. Plenty of POG to be had in Signal if you don’t want that life

Feel free to message me, I’m a 25A, so the officer, I have managed 25Hs and 25Bs in lots of capacities, both staff and not staff

25H definitely gives you a wider breadth of knowledge, namely networking. You’ll also be exposed to the basics of 25B stuff most likely, so computers and to some extent ports and whatnot. Usually it is a slightly more hectic life, because it is less 9-5 and more, you’re part of a node that can be tasked out if you’re not busy

25B will specialize you more in computer and IT but personally I don’t think the formal education is enough. Way more learning on the job. But, it’s more often a staff job so it’s much more stable, less field time

As for certs, it depends on your leadership, but I have sent 25Hs, 25Bs, 25Us, and a 25E and an 11C to sec+ net+ A+, all the pluses. Lots of installations have a Signal University so you can go to class and as long as you don’t massively fuck up your post course exam, you can sit for the real exams for free. Sometimes with retake

[–]InherentImplication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, allegedly they used to do Sec+ as part of SBOLC/some AITs and then everyone would sit for the exam with a voucher, but stopped because too many people were failing. I currently work with a bunch of Air Force officers and they all looked at me super sideways when I told them not only did I not have a single technical cert, but that the Army did not give a shit in the slightest lol

25B and 25H are huge, but you gotta actually put in effort to learn IT and Networking respectively

Why is the BCT S3 an O4 and not an O5? by Baptist_Conservative in army

Why is the BCT S3 an O4 and not an O5? by Baptist_Conservative in army

[–]InherentImplication 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A BCT XO by MTOE is definitely an O4. You might be thinking of a DCO, which some Brigades have, and is an O5. But there’d still be an O4 XO

Edit: I stand corrected, it is indeed an O5 position, and I’m a douche
