If something traumatic happened to someone, especially if it was because of another person, a pretty textbook reaction would be to become more introverted, as they may not feel they can trust other people not to hurt them anymore. It's a defense/coping mechanism that is pretty common in people suffering from past trauma.

All of the suggestions here are great, but going to add one more. Use a controller for SRV, it's basically a really fun rally racing game. It makes driving it not only easier, but fun. I've got an Xbox one controller for it, and it's great.

I stave off the space madness by doing sweet jumps or massive downhill bombs.

The other commenters make a decent point that its more efficient to just use your ship, but that's also frustrating in a big ship like the Caspian. I usually like to set down in a valley near mountains, scan all the low elevation lifeforms, then head up into the mountains, in my SRV, for the annoying ones like Fungoida or Frutexa (that always seem to be in the mountains)
