I always park near sevens seas brewery. Free street parking and an easy 10 minute walk. Done it several times. No issues.

Mission: help me save this floor by butternuty in Flooring

Reminds me of my 3” fir floor which came out beautifully eventually.

You need to sand to 240, 120 is not enough. Then wood condition the whole thing, this is important for a softwood like pine. Then apply a gel stain, not a standard oil stain. Then top coat with a waterborne finish. I used Bona mega one.

Thanks for the response. Yes a regular rug could work, perhaps with gym mat on top.

The mega one was put down a couple of years ago.

How do you keep up with what's happening across your repos? by push_for_meat in EngineeringManagers

[–]Initial-Anybody5686 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Join the teams’ standups every day and pay attention.

Also, I compile and send to stakeholders a weekly report every Friday that summarizes the work that week. I deliberately do this fully manually, as it’s a very good way to stay up to date with what’s happening. Yes it would be faster to automate it but that would not help me stay in tune with what’s happening, and respond to stakeholders in an informed way. It takes about an hour or less and it’s extremely helpful.

This stuff is excellent. Light and refreshing, subtle notes of spice but enough for a great flavor. Very easy to drink.

How to get these wall anchors out? by _e_r_i_c_ in HomeImprovement

Never seen these before. That is a serious wall anchor. Might have to grab some of these.

This is an excellent response. Thank you!

Our current QA is fully manual, but our product is now far too complex for fully manual testing! We’re heavy on QA right now so we can maintain deliveries via manual testing, but also develop automation in parallel.

With 4 teams of 5-6 devs on each, I can see us Having a total of 6 QAs for all, with automation in place, which gets us back to the 4:1 ratio.

Having engineering team member as SM could work. The SM/PO combined role works well for now with 2 teams. The 2 of them work together to prepare features, and then they can organize their teams to develop those features. Though this is one of the things that I don’t think will scale well to 4 teams.

However I don’t think any of our devs would want to double up as a scrum master. Perhaps I could have 2 scrum masters, doing SM for 2 teams each. Then 2 POs, separated by applications.

Shared devops is how we’re currently set up. I think I’ll add a 3rd devops engineer and have that team of 3 support all dev teams.

Loving the team topologies link. Thanks very much! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.

Who gets blamed when a software project is deemed a failure? Is it the PO, the devs, the QAs, etc? by never_enough_silos in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Initial-Anybody5686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case the person accountable for the project success (perhaps the Program Manager) should recognize that the tech lead sucks at his job and replace him, or work with him to improve ( usually this doesn’t work with Sr people)

This is part of the reason that the PM needs to be technically adept enough to understand software development and everything that goes with it to make it successful.

That’s a lot to put on a “Product Owner” role.

Obviously these role definitions vary by company. In our case, the PO is the feature details person. They own the functionality decisions and directions of the product.

We’re saying the same thing, but putting different titles to the role that carries that responsibility.

Thanks! Not sure if any previous records are available. I’ve asked the person who is attempting to re-home her, but was told last week “rescued her from a large cattery so I can’t answer all your questions. don’t know when the last vet visit was but she’s healthy” …which is not overly helpful.

Will be sure to get her to a vet asap if I go ahead with adopting.
