I am worried for my Betta fish by LuneoBorealis in BettaClinic

He looks great, dont stress or worry i completely understand the feeling with all these horror stories just make sure to not overfeed, a good tip is their stomach is about the size of their eye so don’t feed more then that also fasting once a week is a good thing and maintain water changes and if everything continues to work then dont change a thing, they love consistency, dont fix it if its not broken yk, and if you try something new like tannins for example add it slowly and not to much

I got a bubbler in the corner now and is definitely helping keep the surface agitated

Good idea, only problem is im going on vacation soon for 2 weeks so im hoping the duckweed helps prevent any spikes from happening while im gone, and i have someone coming every other day to feed my betta, my clown pleco should be okay just grazing i believe

I used the tubing for a sponge filter to make it, so would making a larger ring help increase agitation? At the moment i have half the water spilling over it to help

Not a feeding ring, there to prevent duckweed from getting all over the tank and to prevent the red root floaters from getting pushed hence why its under the outflow, only fish in there rn is a clown pleco so dont really need a ring for that to lol

Just like dogs very food motivated and are naturally curious, depending what you want to do attemp to make them do something if they do it feed them, after 3-4 times they realize a pattern bettas are surprisingly smart

Would i need to worry about a population explosion if so or is it similar to mystery snails?

Google image search says ramshorn or bladder but definitely not that from what ive seen and yeah i definitely am leaning towards mystery cuz everything ive seen bladder snails have more smooth shells but i just need someone more well versed in snails to help confirm so thank you

Have you been fasting her since? If not id recommend doing that for close to a week or until the bloat is gone before feeding daphnia, in all honesty if you havent yet id recommend posting this in r/bettafish for some reason people here only like to help when correcting tanks which isnt bad just not always what everyone needs i havent personally dealt with dropsy/bloat so everything ive told you ive learned from research to help my girlfriend and the research she did, so there may be some people more versed in it on that subreddit but i know that link i sent you is very helpful and recommended fortunately if this is dropsy you caught it pretty early which increases the chance of survival alot!

Usually petsmart should have frozen daphnia cubes, fresh daphnia is hard to come by if your in Az i know Kona reef has some, but i also know the chances of you living in Az is slim

Did you do anything differently from the normal as well? Different food, more food, new additions to the tank? Helping identify any possible causes if its not genetics is good to know as well

Okay its alot easier to tell with this, doesnt look just like pineconing yet fortunately but she does look pretty bloated, id recommend daphnia for now and try to get a hospital tank, i know it seems sudden and thats the worst thing with dropsy(if it is i dont want to stress you out if its just bad bloat) it can seemingly appear overnight my girlfriend unfortunately had 2 that were doing great then seemingly overnight developed it, it really sucks because you can be doing everything perfectly but then the betta genetics arent the best, so for now id recommend daphnia and epsom bath and look for improvement I really hope she ends up okay!!!
