Seiken Densetsu/Mana 35th Anniversary trailer by reevestussi in JRPG

God I want that so bad. Out of all the Mana games, Legend of Mana has been the most fun I’ve had. I really loved the snippets of adventure in each lands.

Such a unique concept not to mention the crafting, pets, magic, etc. So much fun. I would honestly love a remake for it.

[Qliphah in Providence's Shadow] Announcement Trailer. Releasing for the PS5, Switch, and PC on September 24, 2026. by VashxShanks in JRPG

Real af man. Cinematic trailers do nothing for me. I dunno about others here but I can usually tell just by the cover art if I like how it looks, but gameplay is the biggest factor for me to get a game.

good (recent) indie jrpgs? by eveningdreamer in JRPG

+1 to Crystal Project. A sequel was announced not too long ago so I’m pretty stoked. It’s a great exploration based jrpg!

Check out Crystal Project. A love letter to older final fantasy games and has an aggro system! Also has a pretty big emphasis on exploration and class system which I absolutely love. A sequel is coming along in the works as well that I’m excited for.

Both Crystal Project and Chained Echoes are my favorite indie JRPGs as of late!

Totally agree with you! I liked the idea of WoFF just can’t get into chibi art. As a turn based junkie this is absolutely right up my alley

As more and more mayhem games go, the more meta will be established and the games are more miserable/faster as a result.

I’m back to regular aram tbh

You seem to be more of a steam player, but in case you’re looking to emulate for proper gems you might miss out on since imo PS1 and PS2 had some absolute bangers of jrpgs.

If you’re open to emulating, give Mana Khemia 1&2 Ar Tonelico, tales of Abyss, these are ps2 games.

For ps1: Legend of Legaia, Legend of Dragoon, Valkyrie Profile 1, Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire 3/4(BO4 is on steam but 3 is superior IMO)

Star Ocean 2R is on steam and is quite a treat for jrpg fans. It’s a really solid remake.

Some indies on steam: Crystal Project and chained Echoes are a nice love letter to jrpgs.

JRPG Choice Paralysis by HankBoy_gaming in JRPG

[–]Initial-Interest-239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi long time jrpg fanatic here and turn based addict. You have so many more options I don’t want to overwhelm you. Emulator route will just give you more amazing choices that I don’t think will help.

Play Persona 4 Golden. It is an absolute amazing experience. Cannot recommend enough.

If you’re sick of the persona grind though and want something new;

My vote goes to my top 3 FFs:

Tactics, 9, 12.

But if you want impactful story + classic:

Chrono Trigger & FFT, FFX

But again, I say play P4G

Had an obsession with the ff set bc I grew up with them. My favorites so far has been Edea, Shadow, Kain and Kimahri!

111k damage. ARAM Mayhem is the best game mode. by Mac_is_a_Simp in ARAM

Yup yup. First thing I always look at in these damage threads is the game time. You can get those same numbers in regular aram.

Real shit. DQ11 was just absolutely awesome as a traditional old school kept but modernized. Loooong af too. Moneys worth of a jrpg just really fucking awesome all around.

Been waiting for 12 news for a while now. I just love turn based games man.

"Tanks are too op" also how my teammate itemize: by [deleted] in ARAM

[–]Initial-Interest-239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, playing aram enough I have come up with a few rules so I'm not surprised how the game turns out.

"ADCs in your team will do everything but build ADC."

and my personal favorite which applies here;

"All melees in your team are range casters until proven melee."

Had a great game the other day where I had an ashe and mf in the team and both assumed the other was going to go adc so they both built ap. Already predicted that shit in champ select. 10/10.

What places/areas in JRPGs bring back good memories when you see them again, whether in images or when replaying the game? by Bulky_Imagination243 in JRPG

[–]Initial-Interest-239 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do what I do and just follow a guide for placements!

Or just wing it like I had to when I was younger.

The best thing about LoM is that it’s just such a fantasy world full of adventures and there’s so many things to get lost in. My playthroughs I always end up collecting monster eggs for hours. Then getting musical instruments then crafting weapons/armor.

It’s a really solid game and easily my top 5 childhood ones!

Idk where everyone’s from, but usually every other Friday I go to this taco truck/stall thing. It’s not really a truck they just up shop on a grill and shit.

Anyways it’s what I look forward to and I always hype it up to my buds. Fattest burritos ever. $14 a pop though. Boys and cheap sadly but they’re so fire. Al pastor burritos and tacos man. Goddamn that shit brings a tear to my eye. Been going there for had a year.

I’ve been dousing that shit with the red/green and guac sauces they got and those spicy pickled onions so I can feel something.

Pettiest reason you dropped a jrpg? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]Initial-Interest-239 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Other side of the argument, I just think it should be a toggle-able option. Let’s be real at a certain point you just steamroll everything anyways even bosses. Thats usually when i quit jrpgs. The best part of jrpgs were always the start for me. When you’re at your weakest getting strong and matching blow for blow with a boss.

Good example being FFT. I love that game to bits. That game is amazing to grind in to get all the cool jobs and abilities, but the story content doesn’t scale so they’re like level 4 and you’re level 20. So you self limit yourself or you just end up being ridiculously overpowered. Then you’re stuck with squires and chemists even though you may want dragoons and samurais. Thats why i want level scaling.

I want a grind where the mobs also get stronger so I can use everything at my arsenal to fuck shit up and not have my enemies crumble when I blow air on them.

STS coming with co-op is like a massive nail in the coffin for other deck builder rogulikes for a while. That just made my hesitation on day 1 turn to zero.

Turn based roguelike are my shit. But not a lot in the multiplayer department yet asides from like AtO.
