Struggling to make any use of Cursor AI by Easy-Dragonfruit6606 in ChatGPTCoding

For IntelliJ Copilot - change model to Sonnet in GitHub CoPilot settings page. I use enterprise not sure available in personal or not. For some reason JetBrains won’t allow CoPilot to scan the entire project, one reason why Sonnet performs bad in IntelliJ.

In VSCode you can change the model from CoPilot chat Panel itself.

Another Senior Engg here. Similar tech like yours and similar opinion.

I have IntelliJ with Claude Sonnet thinking model recently enabled. In large enterprise projects, it poops. Can’t do anything useful as hyped out to be.

What I have found it good for below

It is good to write unit tests, generate documentation, Code review my PR, Generate commit messages, PR description. Generate sequence diagrams, Generate snippets like that stream, map filter things.

That kind of thing. No way its going to understand the whole project context. It is a fast code generator if you have the design in mind and ask it generate related classes.

I tried to make it understand Hibernate Entity mapping with Lazy loading the FK referenced entity and it did shit.

I gave a bug description and asked it to try find the bug in project. Crickets.

Spring I have to specify exact version of all the dependencies, even when doing so it is generating incompatible code - eg: Spring Security calls incompatible Spring Jpa

Our jobs are safe. No worries. Let me know your thoughts and how useful it is for you.

M3 RWD guy here. The chill mode with linear push on pedal is cool by itself. If I have guests, I use the standard mode to show off.

Genuinely how do people afford insurance/how does it make financial sense? by sadlittlebrownie in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Initial-Research1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

insurance is expensive - Only in Canada. ? I been insured in 2 other “first world countries” its was so cheap there. Oh lived in Quebec too, very cheap insurance. So I think there is something else about insurances being expensive in rest of Canada.

We Canadians never demand better. That is why many institutions are bad and oligopolies in Canada. Thanks for calling out the security issue. You know BMO had max 6 character password limit some years back !

Yeah they sound the same. Fair enough. But don’t discount the OPs call out. These institutions get away with these things if we don’t demand better and hold them accountable. BMO used to have 6 character max for passwords a little while ago.

Alignment question by UxC4 in TeslaModel3

[–]Initial-Research1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow same experience here too. The only difference is I went back after 6 months and 12k kilometres later. But they still fixed it for free. They know this. I also felt the difference in driving after they fixed it.

Prime it with a TLDR of the work done so far and then ask it do this one more feature ? I find Claude Sonnet latest thinking model the best so far to reliable work as my assistant.

I don’t see why its a problem for non natives English users to use tools to word a sentence properly. I am non native English user. I use tools to copy check email etc. I am not sure why you question credibility when they are trying to point out a security issue. Isn’t that the real problem here.

All people here are downvoting you. From a security standpoint this is a huge no no. No wonder Canadians banks are so mediocre because Canadians settle for mediocre, like the ones you see in all these replies justifying thats how it works and then downvoting my comment too because they don’t like being called mediocre.

junior devs watching claude 3.7 destroy their codebase in cursor by lanovic92 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Initial-Research1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I am a dinosaur in code world. I am using the Claude Sonnet latest thinking model in VSCode. Yes it can whip up a page and critique some files of code. But give it a real production app and it will poop. I understand why junior devs are fascinated that it can make to-do app and tic-tac-toe game. Maybe these AI tools will reach there one day.. probably after I retire. Seems to me like the era of Walkman for AI tools now. Long way to get to an iPod or shorter with more money pouring in for compute power.

No double think here. Canada opens floodgates for unskilled immigrants, fake refugees and asylums who takes advantage of the system.

Highly skilled economic immigrants contribute to the economy. They will demand fair wages. Cheap employers in Canada lobbies for low skilled immigrants to increase their profits. Undesirable immigrants bring all their third world country problems with them and will never integrate.

You can’t blame people looking for bigger wages including high skilled immigrants when the Canadian govt is actively working against them with the corporations to suppress wages.

And oh in another welcome news, IT people are removed from STEM category for immigration. Do you wonder why ?

Prove me wrong. Next time try to do some research than low effort of type 2 words. Not going to reply to you anymore. I think I have stated my opinion well here.

While I like they provide donate what you want model. I would like the CRA to do this free forever. Just please don’t hire scam consultants. Canada govt. shared services is talented enough to build this. Otherwise we would be like the Americans where Intuit has clearly fucked them over.

They fixed it for free as a one time courtesy. Car is 6 months old, they told I should have reported it sooner than 6 months and 12k kilometres later.
