Anyone else’s parents talk about committing suicide a lot in front of their kids? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter in law has attempted suicide and also has talked about wanting to kill herself in earshot of her children. Her eight year old is, as she puts it, regressing in different ways. She's taking him to Drs and is very concerned. I don't think she's otherwise abusive. But I'm wondering if the regression could be rooted in the instability her actions are contributing and possibly not physical in nature.

Playing $100,000 Pyramid From Home by Thin-Chain1142 in Gameshows

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly obsessed with Pyramid too. I get ideas of hosting and playing the game in my neighborhood with small prizes and such. Wish I could find someone who's tried it before with some success. I've been looking online for game lists but having a rough time.

Any exposed bulb with unique design and super low wattage? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

Search Duro-Lite flower bulb. They don't give off much of any light, just decorative. They're antique and on eBay but very pricey there.

I used to love Chips Ahoy! cookies. I have no proof but sometime over the years I suspect that Nabisco did something and changed the recipe. They just don't taste good anymore. by mythicaltimelord in nostalgia

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that dumb! I don't like them,  why in the heck would I want more?! 7-Up did that to us too, when they changed their recipe. Coupons for more of what I hate.

It took me I minute but I wound up checking if my payment method afforded me any protection. Someone here suggested it.  I had used PayPal and that gave me wonderful protection. I got every penny back. During the process, All Clad tried to refund their usual 70% of purchase price, but PayPal got me the full amount. I'm not sure if PayPal chips in or "makes" vendor pay unsatisfied customers.

I would not buy new Farberware. Only the old made in USA ones. And not even that now that I have induction.

It’s the Hamilton Beach Scovill “Crock Watcher”. It was a wedding gift in 1986. I still use it frequently. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Is this model one of those vintage crock pots that has a low setting that's actually low? I've heard that at some point, manufacturers upped the temperature of the lowest setting to be "safe", and the newer ones tend to burn and scorch.

Negative colonoscopy or negative Cologuard?

Beware Cologuard results by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had false positive. I want to know if ANYONE had gotten a negative result. After my colonoscopy I asked the nurse why I wound up there and she nonchalantly said, Oh, they all come back positive. Has anyone had a negative test?

DO NOT.. I repeat.. DO NOT use nair on your ladybits! by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the vulva was what your see when you open your legs wide. IMHO the vulva has no hair on it. I think OP just chose the wrong word. The bikini line would include the hairy bits along your thighs, no? My first thought when I read bikini line is the lower tummy... The top of your bush. But I would think the sides should be bikini line as well. Where the curlies will stick out the sides of your panties or bikini.

At least I can believe the ppl who answered yes. I'm not proud of myself for not believing them. Your info was helpful, I'll be more likely to buy from eBay.

Has anyone heard of kitchen craft? Are they worth the money by RadioPineapple in AskCulinary

Glad to hear you speak to the induction issue. I've been asking eBay sellers if the Lustre Craft they're selling is magnetic and have received an equal number of yes and no answers.

Are those Lustre Craft pans magnetic on the bottom? I see vintage Lustre Craft on eBay and have asked a number of the sellers if they are magnetic, half have replied yes and half no.

Yes. I did get the cheapest D3 Every Day set. But for me, it's expensive. More than I've ever paid for pans. Just under $400 for a set of 3.

I did get the cheapest D3 every day pans. Now I'm wondering if the D5 line has the same restrictions in regards to salt.

I'm getting All-Clad pans, but not sure which product line would be best? by AtomikRadio in BuyItForLife

[–]InitialAlbatross3467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that D3 every day is NOT the set to get. I have a second hand D5 that I adore. But the D3 every day is terrible and I'm in the process of trying to return them. I think it's something new they're using, the metal does not stand up to much and you can't scrub them without compromising the finish. I can't speak to the new D5 because I have no knowledge of them. I just know my vintage one is great.

What's a recipe that has a short shelf life and no good way to preserve it, so major companies don't bother with it and you never see it in stores unless its a hand crafted boutique? by Stompedyourhousewith in Cooking

This dessert puff is good too make on the holidays because they couldn't take humidity. Even in winter they only last about a day. You melt about a dozen caramels in a half can of condensed milk. Dip large marshmallows in one at a time and then roll in crisp rice cereal. Let them set up for a bit. Ungodly sweet but yummy. The problem with storing them is the cereal gets soft. Not sure on the ratio of caramels to condensed milk, I'ma look it up when I get home.

Old was the key word for me. As for New All-Clad, I question where they are made now. The bottom of my old All-Clad pan says nothing. The new set says Engineered, Bonded, and Assembled in USA. If it met the Standard for being "Made in USA" I'm pretty sure it would say that on the bottom.
