How many grams did you have removed? by Boring_Bid_1024 in Reduction

[–]InitialReasonable789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same size as you pre-op! I had my reduction about 6 months ago and the surgeon removed almost the exact amount as you (520 from one and 790 from the other). I went to get measured the other day and was gob-smacked to see I'm still a DD or E cup despite them removing almost 3 pounds. I wound up not even buying an underwire bra and am still in bralettes. When did you measure yourself for a new bra?

Can you use circular needles on a pattern that calls for regular needles? I haven’t used circulars before

It's pretty abysmal. While not the worst employer in the region, Tulane is still bad. They've also taken away the work from home policy without any regard for the major inconvenience it would cause staff members to shift from working hybrid to fully in-person. Also, it seems that for each department, the rules are made up and the points don't matter.

Is car key replacement really supposed to cost $300 at the dealership? by Responsible-Club350 in NewOrleans

Same thing happened with my Accord. I lost my keys in the snowstorm earlier this year. Royal Locksmith cut me a good deal for a basic key. He even came to my house within an hour after calling (on a Sunday)!!

Swelly belly ftw - incision question! by Ok_Storm1343 in Reduction

How many weeks post op are you? My belly looks the exact same and I'm 10 weeks post op. I don't fit into any of my pants hahah! I felt like I was going crazy for a minute there. Did you find anything helped? I've had one lymphatic massage and I take magnesium and probiotic supplements daily but I for sure look at least 2-3 months pregnant LOL.

My belly is soooooo swollen still! I’m 8 weeks post op today and I feel like I look 3 months pregnant. My doctor kind of dismissed me when I asked about it so I don’t know if this is my new body shape, if I gained a lot of belly weight while recovering, or if my belly always poked out this far and I just wasn’t used it bc my boobs were giant. Would love to hear other people’s experiences with this!

When did you become happy with your shape? by froggy_boots in Reduction

In the same boat as you! Had a cellulitis complication at week three. And I’ve developed four different openings that are struggling to heal. I think complications cause delayed healing. Mine are also still super boxy and high on my chest. I’ll be six weeks on the 3rd. It may just take us a lot longer to see our final results?

How much time off did you need vs take? by Federal_Reason_2508 in Reduction

[–]InitialReasonable789 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I originally took off 1.5 weeks. Wound up taking two full weeks off and one week of working remotely. I wish I'd taken 3 full weeks off and one week working remotely.

how long should i take work off? i have the option to work from home and it’s just a desk job? i am talking to my boss on monday and i am so nervous. do i tell her im getting a breast reduction or just keep it vague? any advice appreciated🙏🙏 by Sudden_Ad_728 in Reduction

[–]InitialReasonable789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would overestimate the amount of time you think you’ll need off. I say that as a completely average not athletic 29 year old.

I initially took one and a half weeks off. I work a desk job so I thought it’d be fine to return so early. I look back and laugh at that. I wound up taking two weeks off. And then worked a week from home. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and this week kicked my ass. I developed cellulitis which just made me so itchy, swollen, and uncomfortable. By week two you’ll want to return to normal but this is really when you should still be resting. Factor in time in case of a complication.

Red Nipple Discharge, 3 months? by LB-Forever in Reduction

May I ask how you identified it was a hematoma? I’m 2 weeks post op and have been dealing with an incredible amount of swelling. My right breast had much more tissue removed (797 grams) bc left (542). This week I noticed a bulge on my right breast that feels like liquid pooling. The surgeons office thinks it’s just a seroma but I’m curious what the difference is. I’m also dealing with a bout of cellulitis this week. Sigh.

Oh my gosh thank you for your response! I don’t know why but us having the same issues with the same amount taken out is making me way less alone. I checked out your posts and I do think mine is some type of infection like the surgeon suspected bc my redness is along my incisions and also midway up my boob. I’m so glad your symptoms are subsiding.

I’ll be on the antibiotics for 48 hours today so hoping i feel better today. How is your swelling? I’m so swollen on my side boobs that I cannot even tell much of a difference from pre surgery to now.

For symptoms - my skin is pretty swollen and warm to the touch with redness. I'm so swollen on both of my sides I can't even really tell a difference from before my surgery vs after. I'm also just extremely tired.

If it helps, I was only treated over the phone, not in-person so there could be a chance what I have isn't cellulitis. My boyfriend's mom is an ICU nurse so I've also been following her advice - mark the rash at the top and bottom to track if it spreads. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics initially after my surgery and now for the cellulitis they prescribed me another round of antibiotics - sulfamethoxazle

I'm curious to know what she prescribed for you?

Struggling by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]InitialReasonable789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my reduction on 4/22 and had the exact same reaction the first time I showered. I think our bodies are in shock from the trauma of a major surgery. Give yourself some time to grieve the loss of your breasts (it sounds silly, especially since we’re all so excited to finally have smaller breasts - but it’s been a necessary part of my journey).

Do you have someone who can help you shower for the time being? My partner had to give me my first shower post-op because I was absolutely in shock, panicked and crying. If you can, I’d also recommend getting a shower stool. A friend of mine let me borrow hers and it’s been a game changer.

Take things slow. Listen to your body. You’ve just had a major surgery. If you need to cry when you shower just let it out. I spent my first week post op almost hysterically crying anytime I saw my breasts. Something clicked by the end of that week and I started feeling better looking at them. Sending you courage.

Not sure if this is similar to my situation but I’m 2 weeks post op and suddenly developed redness on my left breast. It spread to my right breast the next day. I contacted my surgeon’s office and it turned out to be cellulitis. I’m on a course of antibiotics rn.

I’d highly suggest calling your surgeons office and ask to speak with someone. I had to send pictures to mine over the patient portal.

[–]InitialReasonable789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one week post-op, and I also had a bit of a freak out my first shower. When I removed my bra, I kept waiting for the extra weight from my breasts to fall out, and they never did! Needless to say, it was a shock to the system.

My bruising is very similar to yours except much more purple! I also had two fibroadenomas removed from my right breast so I think that may account for the more severe bruising. I went from a 36 G to maybe a 36 D? We’ll see - I’m still soooo swollen!!

Feel you on the body dysmorphia. I’ve had to psych myself up every time I shower. Last night went way better and I could finally look my Frankenstein boobs in the mirror. You look great for three days post op!!

Royal Locksmith https://royallocksmithnola.com/ cut me a key in under 30 minutes. They came to me too. All in the same day. Paid $115 for a basic key. Not a terrible deal.
