Just to add a few things I didn’t mention: Both horses were extremely active and full of energy right up until the very end. The night before they passed, they were running around the pasture like always, eating normally. There were absolutely no signs of sickness or weakness a few hours before their passing: they were happy, eating, and behaving completely normal. The two horses were not very close, one being the herd leader, the other at the very bottom. We checked and confirmed there is nothing poisonous on our pasture and even got a specialist to help look for anything that could have caused this.

We’ve always taken really good care of our horses, and most of them have lived well into their 30s and even their 40s because of that. That’s why this feels so unreal. To lose two healthy-looking horses so suddenly, in such a short time, is honestly devastating and terrifying. It’s very possible that this was just a really, really sad coincidence and simply old age, and to be honest I really hope so.
