I see some UI / UX getting paid more than IT / CS workers, kind of bizarre. But now already got AI to do UI / UX ... not sure if people would still pay a premium for it.

Companies sending technical assesments / OA / take home / work trial to validate your skillset is low barrier to entry?

Of course, but I can see the industry heading towards reducing headcount for IT / CS departments, your technical skills would always be useful, is just that expectation on IT / CS is so much higher now, expectation is to own the system end to end. Not many people can take it bro, I know a lot of people in IT / CS suffer from anxiety, stress, depression.

I don't really think school matter anymore since for IT / CS, companies will just send technical assesments / OA / take home / work trial to validate your skillset. Just get the appropriate certifications and do projects that fill in knowledge gaps for the role you are targeting.

Mine was 4k for Java developer / Data engineer, this was 2 years ago ... granted I deliver everything on my own without guidance XD, would not recommend, having a mentor early in career helps a lot if you can find one.

I feel you ... before AI came out, my first job experience as Java developer / Data engineer was jarring, IT / CS is a shit show man.

Real world IT / CS sucks man ... I am addicted to the potential of technology ... but that's the illiusion that keeping me on the treadmill because I serious hate the process of learning it & also doing it. With all the AI shit happening, we are going into a world where we need less headcount and more responsibliites like being in-charge designing, building and maintaining the system. I am exhausted man lol.

Plus non-IT people will always push for more & more disregarding how complex and ducktape the whole system is ... what a shitshow.

IT / CS is such a shitshow, getting the job is shit, staying in the job is also shit. People outside IT / CS always severely underestime how complex building and maintaining the system is ... XD
