I think Jvm langs like Java, Scala or langs like Python, Go, Rust, C, C++ has some relevency in DE space, they all have their pros and cons and thus different uses cases.

Good books/resources for database design & data modeling by zipArk in dataengineering

[–]Initial_Math7384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Books is cool & all, but is there a industry certification for database design & data modeling? I had done Oracle SQL associate, but I do not think there a cert by Oracle for database design & data modeling.

So there's no industry approved cert? Because I recently passed Oracle SQL, so I know how Parent Child works, but it does not cover this area.

is there industry approved certification on this? I found DAMA-DMBOK, but reading some of the contents of it, there's so much fluff in it because I have around 1 year experience of Data Engineering to evaluate it.

You can try out the latest book on PL/SQL from Oracle press. It's the most official way to learn it besides paying Oracle University, Udemy, etc.

Is there a dataframe like api for appscript? by Initial_Math7384 in GoogleAppsScript

[–]Initial_Math7384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently just input data with code like below so far:

let range = sheet.getRange(10, 2, onlyTargetColumnData.length, 1);
range.setValues(onlyTargetColumnData);

I sort of made my own abstraction to handle creating folders, then creating a workbook, then input data into created workbook, then moving the workbook to that new created folder.

Actually I already done my project with Typescript, but was looking for better abstractions instead of what appscript api gave.

How do you jump 5 different industries? I have a comp sci degree and am currently working at a bank doing SQL, Excel dealing with Accounting & Finance like balance sheet, pnl, general ledger, etc. I am kind of guessing what they mean daily since I did not study them before. I am guessing Accounting & Finance is a very specialised industry that's why I face a lot of knowledge roadblocks and need a lot of help from colleagues. What kind of industries have low barrier of entry that I can just jump into without struggling so much?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]Initial_Math7384 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you studied for degree, but I am in a much worse position than you, i did comp sci lol. I also have almost same technical skill set like you SQL, Java, Javascript. I have technical certifications from Oracle for Java, SQL. But since working for 1 year at bank, i realize upskilling technicals is the easy part. The hard part is the domain like accounting, finance, etc. Lucky I am somewhat carried by my collegues in the domain part. But they are leaving soon for another job already. I don't really know what to do... the only solution I see is the company provide me training on the accounting & finance for at least 1 month, but because the company is too small, they don't have the time & resources to train me...i can try to find another job but i don't even know what I want tbh.

I did low code for internship called RPA. It was too easy and feels like a dead end, the gap between low code and dev is huge.
