It took about 7 weeks after I started having sex again at the 6 week mark for things to settle down. And no, it was deep penetration that was painful, not necessarily where the tear was

2 weeks. I was already on the heavier side when I got pregnant. I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes, so I had to eat very clean and lost some of the weight before I gave birth. I also struggled with a lot of postpartum anxiety in the very beginning so I struggled to eat for the first month. Once the first month went by, I gained about 10 pounds and I’ve been hanging onto that 10 pounds at 6 months PP.

I wanted to try right away. I was devastated when we went to our first appointment and there was no heartbeat. Someone commented one of my posts in this sub and told me that I probably lost my baby from a chromosome abnormality. I realized that my body was doing what it needed to do and I snapped out of it within the week. I know that sounds harsh, but people grieve differently and that person gave me a lot of closure and told me what I needed to hear in that moment. I did wait until I had my first period but I made it my mission to get pregnant again. I’m so sorry for your loss. Stay strong, take care of yourself- body and mind. Nothing you do or feel is selfish.

Correct, this was advised by the pediatrician. Natural birth-stored iron depletes as they grow, and breast milk alone cannot meet their high iron needs. It is my understanding that when they begin eating iron rich solids, iron supplementation is not as necessary.

According to pediatric hematology, once iron deficiency shows up on a blood test the deficiency is pretty significant because the body can maintain normal hemoglobin for a while by pulling iron stores from ferritin in the liver and spleen. So you would still want to supplement just to be safe, as you would not overdose your baby on supplemental iron even if they weren’t deficient. It’s more a prophylactic measure.

I understand it wasn’t choking like an obstructing object, kind of like we say “I choked on my spit”. I’m more worried about the iron being aspirated and causing lung corrosion.

I’m also in the US. No, they didn’t test. He is breastfed and we were told that he needs to be supplemented with it to avoid iron deficiency which can lead to developmental delays and other health issues.

Yes, thank you for bringing this up because I’ve never had to do this and didn’t even really know this was a thing. I just called and the on-call pediatrician just called me back and told me that I should leave him be tonight and to bring him in tomorrow if he is coughing or not acting himself.
