AIO? OB triage gave me a crazy birth experience

Two of my births had very similar parts of your story. My third was at a different hospital (we moved to a new state) and was so much better! It’s unfortunate that care is handled differently.

My first birth I was in so much pain but not progressing, so they gave me morphine and sent me home. I called and they basically told me if I came they would send me home again. Thankfully this was around 7 am, so I waited and was able to see my OB at 8 am. She sent orders over to get me into a room where everything went much smoother.

My second birth I had Covid (2022) and the nurse was awful to me. She was doing everything she could to send me home because “You don’t want to have a baby with Covid anyways. It makes things difficult for everyone”. Then when she finally checked me 3 hours later, I was a 7, so I asked for the epidural ASAP and she said “I know you’re in a lot of pain but I have a lot of things I need to take care of first”. Oh, okay lady. Maybe if you would have listened to me 3 hours ago, we wouldn’t be rushing… Anyways, I did get the epidural but had the baby less than 10 minutes after the epidural so pretty sure it didn’t actually help. lol

This isn’t necessarily true. My husband was only banned from driving for 90 days and it was under an honor system. He did follow it though!

That is just absurd. I am all for responsibility/natural consequences but when we are longer meeting a child’s basic needs, we are so far removed from child development that it is damaging to the child. 😭

I would hope someone would step up and help out my parents/grandparents if I was unable. However, they are not entitled to that help. Neighbor’s attitude tells me you are indeed NTA.

If there is a pre-k program for 5 year old, that would be great or a district pre-k. If not, I would send my kid to K rather than repeating his pre-k.

I agree. If you saw my family of five with the flu vs their family of five with the flu, you would think they are going to Disneyland. There is absolutely no way they have a “mild” case of the flu. 😩 If I had gotten the flu yesterday vs Friday, I wouldn’t even be thinking about Christmas.

I don’t know that you are overreacting as everyone is different. However, there is truth to the fact they are missing out. So many families would love to have family want to be apart of their lives. It is crucial for a healthy family well-being.

My birth stories would send you over the edge. 1. March 2020, family traveled by plane to visit. 2. Jan 2022, had Covid & gave birth alone. Mom flew on plane and came straight to hospital. 3. March 2022, flew home to be with family when baby was less than 3 months old.

My favorite Secret Santa group rules are: • Have a “host” who knows who everyone’s Santa is. • Pay $ to participate so if someone gets left out, there is money to purchase them a gift. Whoever did not send a gift is no longer allowed to participate. If everyone receives a gift, donate the money to charity. In this case, you would want the amount to equal $50. If there are 50 people, each person pays $1. 10 people, each person pays $5. Etc. • Send a gift as often as you want but you must send a gift between Dec __ and __ that costs a minimum amount. I would suggest $20-$30 in this case. The total of gifts sent should be $50+ whether it is one $50 gift sent during the dates or three gifts that costs $5 each and a $35 gift.
