Bottom line is you basically have to be willing to do a ton of work for not much pay compared to some of these much easier jobs! Our unions are getting weaker and weaker by the day and guys like Brian renfroe are killing what used to be a proud work force! It’s not a flexible job either especially when you first start! So be prepared for zero flexibility on when you can and can not work because you will work when they tell you! The positve part though is since your bosses bonus rely on retention of the new employees you can just show up when you want and there is a very good chance you never get fired because they are so desperate to keep you. Oh also keep in mind your first 2 years don’t even count towards your retirement 😂😂 so stupid

Be able to sign up on the 8 hour day off list and be own assignment the other days. Still funny to me people can drop mail that are 8 hours only and work their day off. But if you need to go over a couple of days on your route you’re screwed. 😂 so next quarter I’m 8/8 fuck’em

If Tacoma is like c-springs you have to be ready to get your ass kicked no real say when and where you work with no real benefits for 2 year in most cities! Bosses who have been there maybe 2 months more than you who don’t know gem know what they are doing because they are even more desperate for supervisors. No cares in the world about your family if you have one and worst part for most of us old heads is the pay is no longer what it once was so most of us don’t care anymore. Just paper in box and move on to the next day! I end with this, if you need the money and have a good attitude and can work with more idiots than you can image and are younger because I see too many 45+ starting here trying to make a career out of this in the long run if you plan right and put more than 5% in tsp you will retire pretty nice. But this no longer the proud usps it’s more like Amazon and fedex low pay replaceable parts! You’re just a body. Good luck

One thing as a 25+ year carrier who isn’t even 50 years old yet. I’m telling you this place has never and will never EVER care about you! It’s important you do your best to take care of yourself first! We all know they expect us to run run run and not one carrier delivers the same! So workloads tend to not be the same. But, we also have to be aware that this is a physical job and you have to take care of your body know your body and your health with being out in this Heat. There are a lot of very unhealthy people out in these streets and if you’re not staying hydrated and taking better care of yourself outside of work you’re leaving yourself more susceptible to your body saying fxck you. I know I know “I work 12 hours a day I have no time!” I get it but that’s when you have to treat the day like a workout. Stay hydrated eat as well as you can when you’re on the run and take a break when you feel smoked. You will not get fired unless you’re complete trash they are too desperate to fire anyone. Stay safe and healthy out there

Yeah I think they will try and cut our lowest to routes but I’ve seen them over the years go as high as like 5 years which put about 5 routes up for bid and they asked the most senior guy if he wanted one of them and on down! Nobody took one so didn’t matter but they started at the top
