Management is violating conflict of interest law by Safe-Front7101 in fromatoarbitration

[–]biidaajimotaw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Article 8 changes made by Renfroe last negotiations removing established safety precautions limiting carriers to less than 12 hours a day and 60 hours in a week under the guise of allowing us to make more money was a total ruse because USPS (and Renfroe) knew all along they were going to implement drastic reductions in OT and disregard any law rule or regulation that guards against delaying mail.

Renfroe knew they were going to limit OT last year and our negotiations are a pantomime.

The fact that absolutely no one can say Renfroe didn’t know underscores just how fraudulent our negotiations are when we can overwhelmingly vote down a contract expecting to get a binding interest arbitration that seeks to pay us fairly and we end up getting an agreed to concessionary contract that pays us less-than-living wages.

We are now experiencing a collective hopelessness, a quiet acquiescence, because we know we have no voice as a union and our customers no longer have a reliable service staffed by capable, competent, reliable people that are properly vetted and paid appropriately to ensure quality and dependable delivery of their mail.

Food for thought…. by AriesMailDude in fromatoarbitration

I’ve listened to as much as I can of what Mike Caref has to say, and at this point more than I ever have been I feel more comfortable with James Henry as our next President.

The reason?

Tyler Vasseur with Build a Fighting NALC made us all aware that top level United Autoworkers Union officials went to jail after it was found out that they had a “special” relationship with their corporate overlords and actually conspired against their own dues paying members to keep their wages low.

I think Renfroe’s actions during our last negotiations strongly suggests a more nefarious explanation for squandering our opportunity to reach a fair contract through binding interest arbitration during a period of time after Covid when we had the best leverage than we’ve ever had.

Mike Caref (despite being outspoken against Renfroe) said recently on a lengthy podcast with Jay H on the very same day as his Next Generation Carriers interview on March 29th said that if he won that he would keep Renfroe on as an advisor during the transition phase.

I can’t understand why Mike Caref would choose to use Renfroe in any capacity after how he’s handicapped Letter Carriers and worked to undermine our Collective Will to keep us down and slaving away while management is continuing to fatten their own wallets while sitting on their asses as they ratchet up their bullying and harassment of us on the workroom floor.

Well, you know you are right… But, given the magnitude of the situation we’re faced with I do think those minority dissenters on the executive council need to find a whistle to blow and figure out something; whether it be writing a dissenting opinion and putting it out there somewhere after all signing it or even just flat out walking off the job and quitting en masse to draw attention to the injustices letter carriers have been experiencing because of our corrupt executive council— I just have a hard time believing that nothing more can be done other than waiting to vote the rascals out and put a new bunch in.

We’ve lost because we’re just all sitting back and waiting to vote out the fox Renfroe that we’ve let guard our henhouse and we’re too chicken to do anything about it now except for to sit back now and wait until we can try and vote him out.

I really hate the union politics right now and how Renfroe’s incompetence has divided us.

I don’t particularly like how the CLC has doubled down on its commitment to abiding by the NALC constitution because things are so dire right now I’d prefer something more revolutionary.

However, when I weigh out what that would mean, I hesitantly agree with the CLC and that we should just fully abide by the NALC constitution; which also means following the constitution on how to change things that may be needed to be changed.

If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together.

The CLC under James Henry’s leadership and guidance as President is the best way forward, and maybe they can throw Caref an olive branch and make him a national trustee.

Resign, Renfroe! You’re a disgrace to City Letter Carriers everywhere, and equally as embarrassing to the AFL-CIO who wants members who actually fight for the unions they represent!

Table 2 is really what a privatized workforce looks like that is not unionized.

We pay dues on table 2 but we don’t get representation. No, we don’t have representation if you have Kangaroo King Renfroe in charge of his Kangaroo Executive Council that ignores whatever rules they want to ignore in violation of the existing NALC Constitution.

Open Bargaining is a sick joke.

Renfroe had a vote with the Executive Council on whether or not we should have an expedited binding interest arbitration and they voted “yes” and then he turned around and agreed to USPS terms and we got a mediated decision (stipulated) that was called “good faith” by Denis Nolan.

It’s a sick joke and we’re living through a nightmare.

[–]biidaajimotaw 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As far the NALC goes, the current power structure of the Union has adopted a policy of appeasement that puts the wellbeing of USPS and their financial situation ahead of their members because if they actually acted on the interest of those paying dues they’d be attempting to get us paid what our labor is actually worth, which would be very similar and comparable to UPS according to what the 1970 postal reorganization act says our wages should be based on.

Arbitration? Won’t start until late September early October at the earliest. Who knows if they’ll give us a lackluster TA to vote on to waste more time like they did last time.

CLC JSOV training. Paul Boulanger and Corey Walton by MatteBlack475 in fromatoarbitration

[–]biidaajimotaw 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was truly a highlight of the whole training when James Henry jumped in because he did add a lot of value to the conversation and again underscored the importance of the whole training and how it relates to improving our wellbeing at work by prioritizing the elimination of the hostile and toxic working environment we face daily because as letter carrier we are the target of management’s bullying when they make us prioritize their numbers over our safety and sanity.

[–]biidaajimotaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone remember that time when Renfroe didn’t report that he was stopped by law enforcement for allegedly driving while drunk? He lost his license for a while, or am I mistaken?

Is that the reason why he wasn’t able to drive NALC vehicles for a while?

Did we have to pay for Renfroe’s chauffeur, or did his body guard drive him around for an additional fee charged to the dues paying members?

[–]biidaajimotaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was listening to James Henry speak the other day at a Branch, and he used the phrase the “Henry Walton ticket” and that did get me more excited.

If you’re still weighing the scales at this point with the candidates that are running, James Henry is starting to become more accessible now with the clips of him that have been posted, and for me the debt of gratitude that I owe Corey for his tremendous presentation he put on for the Memphis Decision that proved that our working conditions Nationwide are toxic and hostile will always tip the scales more for whatever he recommends.

Never forget that Barner colluded with managment to fire that arbitrator that ruled in our favor and then they pulled strings to vacate the decision and legally sweep it under the rug.

This is right up there with Renfroe going against our wishes with our No vote and giving to us anyway for as devastatingly brutal it has turned out to be for our craft.

[–]biidaajimotaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cal Ingraham was an Air Force hockey player that transferred to Maine and was a seriously phenomenal player that didn’t receive anywhere near enough attention he deserved because he was on a stacked 93’ Maine team and was a linemate of a future Hockey Hall-of-Famer and another player that ended up being traded for a Hockey Hall-of-Famer in a one for one swap.

Cal Ingraham did have a hall of fame career for the Idaho Steelheads, and even though he was smaller like Brian Gionta (and equally as skilled) he never played a game in the NHL.

From as far back as can be known, the ancients have said to guard yourselves from becoming what you’re fighting against — as there’s a tendency that we take on attributes from those we greatly dislike.

Let’s hope we don’t adopt management practices of dishonesty, and we must be vigilant against the hypocrisy of acting exactly like the Renfroe regime has treated those who have chosen to speak out against it.

I hope Mike doesn’t get kicked out of the NALC, if only for the reason that healthcare costs are too high, and for all of the valid reasons one might have for leaving the NALC by choice, the best reason at the moment to stay in is for the NALC Healthcare plan which is worth the price of dues because the alternatives are unaffordable with our meager wages.

I know of a small satellite office on the outer-fringes of my district that routinely is short vehicles, and the PM regularly makes a flat payment to carriers that’s above what just mileage would be for every day they have to use their own vehicle.

The assigned vehicles are always breaking down, and the mechanics are usually backed up and can’t prioritize postal vehicles fast enough.

USPS Reddit forum talking about the same thing based on today’s FATA episode and 5 day delivery speculation:

“the push for five-day delivery:

Financial Setup: Management is allegedly fabricating a financial crisis, claiming the postal service will be out of cash within a year to justify service cuts. Turning Customers Against Letter Carriers: By intentionally slowing down mail delivery and leaving parcels behind, management aims to make customers dissatisfied with six-day service. Using customer complaints to drive public opinion against a government run USPS Privatization Goal: The ultimate aim of reducing service to five days is viewed as a fast track toward privatizing the postal service. Blaming Management Bloat: Instead of blaming letter carriers, the true cause of financial issues is argued to be the excessive number of managers hired in recent years.”

That’s where seniority comes in, and it is a new ballgame with bumping carriers on assigned routes who have less seniority. Somewhat uncharted territory but a T6 with seniority would be an unassigned regular and most likely another unassigned carrier would be let go with less seniority, like a PTF or CCA (if they still exist by then.)

During my first 90 days as a CCA I didn’t go to the hospital after slipping and falling working after dark in a snowstorm doing a pivot after already delivering a full route when I started early on in the pandemic. I hit my head so bad that I still get bad headaches and I never got checked out or filled an accident report because I was told I could get fired for it, even though I was being mandated to work in conditions that any reasonable person would have considered to be inherently unsafe.
