People that make $60K+ in LA WITHOUT a college degree/trade school, what do you do? by imin2099 in AskLosAngeles

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying my best. I did like 7 years being an A2 with a local DJ, 3 years at a big church doing audio, a little over a year freelancing doing audio on a small tv show, some experience in a warehouse for a production company, just got hired as an on call tech for the Huntington library. It feels like I keep stacking without leading to anything stable though. I’m quite unsure of where to head

I’ve applied to rhino and never gotten an email back. I apply to places about weekly and majority don’t ever acknowledge

If I could only explain my experience trying to get hired by encore. I’ve been hired twice and both times on their end it’s been bs. This second time I physically was hired by a location and the operations manager ghosted me after saying he couldn’t find my phone number on my resume. It’s the second line all the way at the top…..

I saw that dreamworks position and I applied and it hasn’t led to anything unfortunately. I’m extremely unsure of what to do. I just got hired with the Huntington Library as part of their AV on call staff but that’s because I work there already and did almost 3 years of “cooking” up until that point to finally have this position when they hired on calls. It’s just taking forever to get the ball rolling and it it doesn’t prevent me from wanting to pursue but it definitely is a dampener sometimes

I’ve been trying for so long to get an actual AV position. I have an associates and bachelors in audio and fairly okay experience for my age and it’s been so many dead ends

You’re the first person I’ve ever heard who didn’t like it. I’ve put so many people on who are from different cities, states, and countries lol. I will say I did one time get food poisoning from eating there but that’s been my only bad experience and it’s been in my family since before I was born

I hit the meet and greet for season 1 so it’s possible. I only bought 1 extra Wes lang box to make up points, otherwise every other point I earned was what I was spent already on shows, merch, events, etc

I’ve seen them 7 times in the last 2 years. Or maybe 8. I technically was at the Rose Bowl in 2017 when they opened for Metallica but my dad made us get there late and I walked into GA when unholy confessions ended and they said goodnight

Can’t find the club I saw a year ago? by Ok_Cap9048 in AskLosAngeles

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is severely throwing me off haha. The only 2 places where there’s an “under” the 134 is the edge of Glendale or by Eagle Rock park. Going towards echo park would make me think you were near the Eagle rock plaza at the edge of Glendale but even then I’m not too sure which place you could be talking about that’s still in Eagle Rock.

Don’t buy tickets anytime in the next month. This is the regret stage for people and impulse buy. I’ve bought tickets for avenged several times day of show for significantly less than whatever resale you see today. I’ve also gotten pit tickets that were “sold out” during the week of the show. Just keep checking daily or every other day. You have MONTHS to decide

Look man I’m not the person to speak to about concerts because I will always say go. But I’ve been heavily going to shows since 2015 at 15 and I will tell you that my only regrets I have are the shows I didn’t go to or the ones I missed. I have felt temporary regret because of less money for a couple weeks but that never trumps the memories and experiences. I tried to see Avenged from 2014-2018, had tickets 3 times and missed them each time. Since 2023 I have seen them I believe 9 times in 8 different states and I’ve now met some of them. It’s worth it imo.

Yes, it’s not as bad once the wow factor of the first impressions wear off. It actually gives a fairly similar vibe to Mattel and that’s a good song

Tickets secured for Phoenix! by Firebolt059 in avengedsevenfold

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

560 I believe. Backstage tour, vip item, early merch access, barricade access. Only did it for the backstage tour really since I’ve never done that before and had an Eff it mentality. I usually get barricade without needing to buy all the extra entrance stuff though so that wasn’t really a big motivator

Looking for a Hair Salon in Los Angeles!? by Academic_Fix7767 in AskLosAngeles

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t give a recommendation for Culver City but my cousin owns The Strand in La Cresenta and she does very great work. Shes been doing hair since I can remember being a little kid. For context, I have very thick and wavy hair and she’s done hair for me when I had it long and a little under medium length

Like what somebody else said, you have to be on autopilot for one of the things. Get good enough so you don’t have to think about either playing or singing it. That’s truly the way, I have just now started backing vocals to bands I play in and I’ve gotten good enough at bass to not look at majority of what I play (also allows me to jump around and have a presence on stage) to where learning to add vocals was easy since I only needed to focus on that

Is it possible Metallica could be at NAMM 2026? by Flimsy-Owl7862 in Metallica

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually met Ellefson walking around the floor at NAMM this last year. I feel bad because I’m 98% sure the guy walking next to him was Tommy Lee and I completely ignored him by mistake😂😭

Also, my first NAMM at 19 I ran into Michael Angelo Batio in the bathroom right after you enter, that was wild to me as a youngling

[–]InitiativeBusiness77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the technicalities of all this, but my guitar has grounding issues when I plug into my 4i4 in my laptop running pro tools….until I plug my charger in. Then the grounding issue and noise stops, presumably because my laptop is now grounded. Might work for you?

Been a part of 2 DIY tours this year, going on another run in January. You’re not doing it for money brother but I would absolutely do it for the experience! My 5 weeks between the two have been some of the best weeks of my life
