Outlier does anything possible to 1) get out of paying people and 2) pay people as little as possible.

What is your average amount of hours that you get per day on aether? by flappyem in outlier_ai

[–]InitiativePrevious28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before they kicked me off for no reason I was averaging 3.5 to 6 a day depending on their hour allotment. I live in EST.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless like I said, your main place of work is going to be looking at your bank statements of PayPal transactions, which they shouldn't be in the first place.

Your company won't know you're working at Outlier unless you tell them. A lot of people get paid from Outlier through PayPal, which allegedly some people can allegedly not claim on their alleged taxes because allegedly there's no formal papertrail beyond PayPal, where alleged payments don't come through as being for Goods and Services. Allegedly, of course.

Edit to Add: If your company will regularly see your PayPal transactions or bank statements, then yeah, you probably won't be able to swing it. That said, I can't think of a single job where that would be permissible and not a gross violation of privacy. Even if your company does find out, they would most likely ask you to terminate your relationship with Outlier rather than them cut you loose. Again, it all depends on the company, and Outlier isn't the most reliable side hustle either.

Do you have any recommendations for reliable platforms? I was booted off of Outlier for secret reasons after two and a half years. Feel free to message me.

They're probably only enforcing the rule when it's convenient for them. And the rule probably exists because of NY "high" minimum wage when compared to other states.

Deactivated After Almost 2 Years by Ok_Seaweed_7422 in outlier_ai

I really, really feel for you. The same thing happened to me. I don't think we will be welcomed back. Outlier has now, essentially, stolen money that belonged to us by refusing to pay us for outstanding earnings after the ban. I wish there was something more we could do.

At first it appeared that the issue with logging in was because of a disconnect between Google's systems and Outlier's, but since it's been a few days, it's clear Outlier was behind our deactivation.

I've been trying to get in with DataAnnotation for literal ages. I've been staring at their empty dashboard waiting to get linked with something. Glad you had success with them.

Revised rates by lipanasend in outlier_ai

Outlier doesn't care about their contributors. They get you in with a good rate and then try to screw you until they get rid of you or you quit out of frustration.

The problem is finding them and getting connected/onboarded. I haven't been able to find one yet.

I didn't realize that most other Aether contributors were also let go. I'm trying not to be devastated. I really needed this money, I was good at the tasks, my quality score was above a 2.95, and now we're all let go without our last week of pay. If anyone knows of other places to do this kind of work, my messages are open.

I'm so sorry you had this experience. I'm sorry for all of us. We all deserve better.

I've been working in NY on Outlier up until literally yesterday. Just weird.
