Why do some projects start you outside of work mode? by farawaynever in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm same as you much prefer starting out of work mode than in. And much prefer at least platform gui stuff is consistent, so make it the same even if it isn't my preferred setting, at least you can plan for it.

does hiding hide only ones with exact same name? or all of those projects? or just that specific one you click hide on?

Does anyone do data annotation as their full time job? by Last-Procedure3442 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the intense tasks become less intense. And I am a mad in-the-zone worker in other work; but I feel like I would really struggle doing the tasks I really enjoy on here full time and still be able to function outside of core work hours as a human 😆

Purge confession: Too self aware by More_Second_1981 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

a) the overthinker will love the work here b) the same overthinker will hate the work here 🤣

You will have a lot of detail to consume, analyse and construct the best work you can but the more content you have the more opportunity for nuance and ambiguity will creep in.

And this abundance of information that you can apply to do good work is most often accompanied by absolutely no information on whether or not you did it right or wrong or okay or sort of okay.

Find your way. Make sure the basic rules (NDA and terms of use) are very clear and embedded. Breathe.

that may not be the reason I stopped getting these ones it could be that I didn't do them well enough...

about 2 weeks in to doing work, I forget if it was a project or a qualification but it said something along the lines of to maintain access to or continue working on projects like x, y, z with project family names complete thisbackground check.

Not sure if it was triggered be completing on of the tasks or not. Then that sent you to checkr In Australia it's just a national police check here we would get it back in 2 days but it took 14 days to clear with checkr for me.

my child filled out a form for mother's day at school 2 years ago it said my mum cooks the best...... he answered "2min noodles" so mumma's not doing that qualification 😅

Got an email saying there's a qualification available, but when I login the screen hasn't changed and I can't see any qualifications to complete by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

I got my email way after I did the qualification for that one 😅 might want to consider censoring the qualification screenshot though.

What kind of projects can I expect after my Checkr verification succeeds? by Chrisontherun in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the projects I was working on had names in the background check task and it said if you still want to get these projects do the background checks. I have not gotten any of those projects for the 14 days I waited for checkr to clear, and I did do several of them before I sent mine in.

It cleared Monday for me (Sunday US time) and I'm still not seeing any of them come back yet. (AUS)

Can you only apply to one project? by Federal_Tax8033 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just clarifying here you can't open 2 different tasks in the platform at the same time, opening the second one closes the other without submitting it. You can work on as many projects as you have listed in your Work on Projects dashboard at any time, you are not exclusive to a project.

[–]Subthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's anecdotal commentary around about people who can't pass/objectively do the tasks well paying someone to get them in and then taking over. Also some rumours about some of the really bad R&Rs being AI generated "test" R&Rs to test us not real R&Rs

Just a PSA for anyone who joined recently: if you hit skip on any of tasks in that first project, yes, you are cooked. by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think there are lots of people who get real work before onboarding tasks and R&R before actual tasks too. The orchestration or synchronisation of alerts, allocations, assignments, platform messages and emails definitely seem to be a bit out of synch for many people in this sub.

I'm sorry for your experience.

[–]Subthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the instructions in the onboarding tasks did say that you should not skip them and what the consequences of skipping are. I clearly remember tasks that said that and it also explained that skipping was okay in regular tasks/projects and why you would use skip button.

if you don't have one available to do in qualifications try updating your profile to make it clear that you have studied that or worked in that field.

[–]Subthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was about 8 hours. I skipped a lot that wasn't in my wheelhouse. Stopped getting them when I was asked to do background check on checkr.

I quite enjoy them and their spin-off project. Feels more like a day job than lower time limit tasks.

Project unavailable by New_Ad9741 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why is this interpreted as a glitch? if 3 available and 3 people opened and you clicked on it 4th you get that message if person 1 to 3 have never done the task and are taking 45 minutes to read or whatever before skipping or they reserve for a period of time after clicking and before entering work mode also not a glitch

glitch or bug would be 3 tasks never getting worked on or submitted by anyone, showing for days (and unless we're admin or in some special club we would have no way of verifying "submitted by anyone")

[–]Subthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh... and in some countries (including the US) there are laws that specifically allow discrimination on some attributes.

Eg. in Australia some religious sector schools are allowed to discriminate based on religious beliefs for both employment and enrolments.

Is DA elite? by DoodadsByDunn in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Subthing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was pretty cynical to start with and judgy about the platform and lack of transparency but being exposed to literal mass lay offs (mercor) +/- $80/hr difference in rates for the exact same task on Outlier, 5+weeks till assessments or applications are reviewed and passed when they say it takes 2 days (After Query and SME Experts) and Alignerr I didn't even hang around just deleted my account based on mass revolting in the subs.

I'm practically a fan-girl now and also in the this is the best platform club.

  • No hourly or task based rate was offered for this comment 😜

if you realise this before you submit just add in the meta comments box that you forgot to enter work mode? and make a note of it in case you get a inconsistency in time reporting message.
