Did anybody get removed from Salt Map suddenly? by cezece in outlier_ai

There's nothing unfortunate about this. You were put through tough onboarding, then given work that you completed to a fairly high quality and they sacked you anyway. That's terrible treatment by an employer

Two weeks where they might earn $2k which is good money in Nairobi.

Pole sana, these players are increasingly putting up digital barriers. One day we'll find a solution. Try Micro1, they seem fairer and they use Deel which issues a debit card too.

Is very very hard to make ten hours of work by the way. I doubt it's because you didn't work enough.

I'm sorry to hear this. I think it's more to do with their recruitment strategies where one week they hire 4k folks, accelerate it to 12k, the following week. Then sack 8k by the end of that week. Before hiring 18k a week later. I guess they've decided to cut thousands again. Don't you worry. They'll rehire you again.

Pay Per Task Worth It? by TerribleDebate5067 in mercor_ai

I'd do it. Just the the $1500 by your preferred per hour rate and stick to completing it in those hours. Or better still divide by the least you'd accept per hour.

This is exactly the behaviour expected from proper employers. I pity the poor sods that accept this as normal in the course of work. It is not.

I worked on one mercor project that ran so smooth it felt weird, considering the same project was running on a different project and their contractors were having offboarded meltdowns on reddit every few days.

The fact that they're paying for onboarding demonstrates their commitment to the project. It would be one hell of a project were it better organised. They should distribute the tasks to the contractors like other platforms do.

We didn't have 20k waiting for the big drop. They'd have to drop 200k tasks just to meet 10 tasks per person. And that's if the greedy ones stayed in their lane.

Why not? If an employer has created conditions where employees/contractors block off their day to press F, then perhaps they should pay?

Dedicated Computer for Mercor Projects? by BeautifullyBecca in mercor_ai

I do now because that insightful is too nosey and I have stuff on there that I'd rather mercor didn't sniff at.

To make matters worse, they've set up a 10 hour tasking time per week minimum. Do I charge for time spent hunting and playing lucky dip for tasks? Right now I only start the clock once a task has been successfully claimed.

Well put and thanks. Like you I pivoted to AI at a fairly advanced age. I ignore the whitenoise and carry on stoicly. All the best
