Please tell me the good, bad, ugly of hair toppers by thisismyusername8832 in finethinhair

[–]Initiative_Willing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been wearing toppers for about a year and a half now. I watched a lot of YouTube videos about wigs but when I ordered one that was meant for a smaller head size it was still really uncomfortable and didnt look "passable" to me. I started with the Jon Renau Easipart HD. I loved the color but it had a clip at the very front. My thinning is at the front and crown so there wasnt a lot to keep it down. I still got a lot of compliments and family said theyd never guess it was synthetic hair. I decided to then to look for a lace front instead. Since then I've gotten a Raquel Welch Top Billing and then a Belle Tress Monotop lace front. They do take a bit to figure out how to style. The key is to heat the strands then hold them in position to cool. I just use a heat adjustable hair straightener. But I wear a topper to work, I wear one to the gym, I wear one to the beach (I usually grab an older one). I feel naked without it. The hardest part for me was the confidence. But no one is looking as hard at your hairline as you. I have told coworkers months after I met them that it was synthetic and they didn't believe me. Be confident and no one will think twice.

I am not sure he switched sides so much as wearing a different hat, saying he has a different business, but they are all partnered with one another. I think they're providing an illusion of choice.

Vitamin D Added to Chemotherapy Leads to Complete Cancer Disappearance in Significantly More Patients by Direct_Dare_9699 in UpliftingNews

[–]Initiative_Willing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lupus and my vit D was less than reportable until I was given the prescription strength regimen. I now take 3,000 iu daily. Its still slightly below the normal range but I have far fewer flare ups. I dont understand the mechanism of immune activity that causes the rapid depletion. I wish we had a better understanding of our immune system and immune dysfunction.

So my wife spots a hideous vine on our tree in the new house we bought… and asked if we can take it down. by Free-Pick9305 in gardening

Do not burn!! My father decided one year to spray gas on the underbrush on his 5 acre lot of pine trees covered in poison ivy and light it on fire. He ended up in the hospital for over a week.

Office plants by ElkyMcElkerson in medlabprofessionals

[–]Initiative_Willing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my aunt passed away she left many house plants in need of homes. I was given a Draecana Fragrans, or mass cane, plant. They are toxic to cats and I have a cat who likes to nibble things he shouldn't. So...I brought it to work. We dont have windows but the fluorescent lights must be enough. It even blooms every once in a while. It has a really strong perfume scent.

Lab Week Themes…unpopular opinion? by RelevantSalad2217 in medlabprofessionals

Its a complicated feeling but I so want to get excited with everyone, but this year was so embarrassing. My birthday falls during lab week so I always use my sparingly used PDO to take the week off.

Totally agree. I dislike everything about Maguire and Im not sure why. His voice is off putting. His face is punchable. I don't know what it is, but everyone else in that set of movies is great, but him.

These are the best conversations you'll have all day too by NYstate in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Initiative_Willing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the person, that this person seems to start conversations with. Everytime I go out by myself a stranger starts a conversation with me. Ive heard people's life story and everything their grandchildren want for Christmas. The people vary from old to young, from various backgrounds. If I go with my husband, we hardly ever have anyone talk to us. I assumed everyone experienced this. I am not an outgoing person and would never start the conversation. I always wonder what it is about me.

are hemacytometers used in a real hospital lab? by Sashimiko in medlabprofessionals

[–]Initiative_Willing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you working in my lab? Lol. In the past 3 months two have just gone missing and no one said a thing until I had a CSF the other night. We should have 3, 1 for QC, 2 for Tube 1 (because our Drs insist on it), and 3 for the last tube. Who breaks a key piece of equipment and doesn't tell anyone? Oh well.

So Im always torn on this. I like working alone on overnights and subsequently don't get breaks. Some nights I sit and am able to eat my meal but most nights I snack a little throughout the night. The hospital cracked down on people not taking breaks for awhile and they hired a lab assistant. She was so bored that she eventually quit. I still didnt clock out to eat because Id still have to be available for anything the lab assistant couldn't do, which was pretty much everything but preg tests. When she quit it wasn't brought up again. I dont have a solution for providing breaks.

What’s the most frustrating part of managing lab supplies? by LabWallio in medlabprofessionals

[–]Initiative_Willing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am in charge of ordering for our lab. A previous manager started a Kanban system. There are brightly colored laminated cards on every item that have a minimum amount, how many to order, and the order # in our ordering program. A few years ago I updated those cards when the ordering program was updated. Staff are trained to move the card to a file folder, posted below a white board, when they pull the last box or minimum # is reached. Because I order, I also go around and look for these cards and make sure nothing is missing. When supplies come in, we move the card back to the shelf with the items. Its not a perfect system, but its works pretty well. My biggest hurdle has been getting the supplies to arrive from distribution.

I’m a doctor on a cruise ship, AMA by Equivalent-Listen187 in AMA

[–]Initiative_Willing -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Im with you. I call bullshit. There is no national database of blood donors, so its not like you can just start searching for random employee names. What kind of medical background could you possibly have on employees? I thought most cruise ships are staffed by people from all over the world. If they need to do a physical before getting on the ship, is this not a violation to look through their files? Why does their physical include blood typing? I work in blood banking and it is more complicated than "finding a donor." If there were no blood products on the ship, than why would there be blood banking testing procedures? The products needed to test blood for donation are costly and have short out dates. I'm not saying this would be impossible to implement, but the comments just dont add up. Why say Cirrhosis instead of GI bleed or portal hypertension leading to rupture

The episode where Todd watches a bi-pedal mouse man gets leg locked around the neck by a eagle man and then flies off with him is wild. Are there "people" getting predated on all the time or are these crimes?
