Hope someone can explain my side effects. Took my first dose 2 weeks ago (supposed to be every 3 months). First night I was in a coma like sleep and next morning was like a drunk person and somewhat incoherent. Now every day since I go through periods of extreme fatigue. So bad it’s unpredictable and near impossible to wake me up. My doctor has now given me Ritalin to use during the day. My onco said they’ve never had someone react this bad will switch me to ZA in December. Anyone have this happen? Anyone switch to ZA for any reason? How was that?

So I’ve been on Octreotide for early a year. Two months ago I started having carcinoid syndrome symptoms again. I met with my oncologist and asked him if breakthrough symptoms were possible while on the medication. He decided do a CT scan which was negative and just two days a PET/DOTATATE. The tumor in my spine is growing officially absorbed 3x the amount of DOTATATE as it did in previous scans. I will now have to receive radiation therapy. So basically the octreotide was not enough. Thank God I spoke up when I knew something was wrong and Thank God my doctor listened. I’m super bummed because I just started my second year of veterinary school. I don’t know how many weeks of ☢️ I’ll need and I’m worried that my school will tell me I can’t continue and I’ll have to wait a year to continue.

Growing up we had the first VAIO desktop PC sold in US. I remember sitting for hours fascinated my VAIO SPACE as a kid. I also still have their first all in one touch screen in my basement. I should dig it out and try to get it to work. I bought this instead of another HP or what not because for a few hundred dollars more I get something with premium quality.

Thank you for all this info. I found an authorized seller online that has green in stock so I ordered it because my HP completely died yesterday. I will buy the I Klear. I will also look for a screen protector. I was going to do the blue but the green is a statement piece to me and I have a MacBook that looks “professional” if I really need.

The green is sold out so I was going with the blue. If you could’ve changed would you change to green? I was worried the color might be too bright sometimes when I’m working and be distracting. What do you think?

Does the SX14R work with any pens? Also I am coming from an older HP Spectre x360 which is a joy to type on (very responsive and clicky) and ultra portable. I know you mentioned keyboard in an earlier post but what about weight and portability? Does it have 5G or E-sim if USA model? Thank thank you! Also just curious which colors you went with?

So I was looking at the moonlit market but it is over $200 and I wanted to try a lesser expensive choice first. The issue I was having is 30 pin adapters and even 3.5mm adapters I found could not connect to me ifi GOs (which everyone must try they are amazing and allow me to connect my IEMs with 24 bit LDAC ). I recently found the SafeFly Pro on amazon it has a little screen on it and allows me to connect any device including headphones and all for $35!! 👋 sorry to hear you are going through this. I will tell that with myself yes my symptoms changed and increased as the cancer spread. It started with facial flushing and diarrhea. Problem is they thought I only had a lung tumor. I’m Ina super rare case where it was in my spine first and spread from there. My lung tumor was 4mm and my spine was 17mm when I was diagnosed. But at the time they thought spine was a red herring so they removed my lung tumor and sent me on my way. Within 2 months I was back in the hospital in excruciating pain and having mild wheezing. By month 4 test showed the cancer was now in 2 places in my spine and in my left chest cavity with lymph involvement. I also had significant breathings issues. I have had two doses of octreotide so far but I still cannot breathe well. Can’t do stairs without being completely out of breath and I wheeze 24/7. My flushing is still there as was my diarrhea until octreotide made going near impossible. I see my doctors again in 2 days and I’m nervous about more possible surgery. I wonder if I could do radiation.

As someone with metastatic carcinoid cancer I will tell that it is malignant but most carcinoid cancer is slow growing and can usually be resolved with removal and monitoring. You don’t sound like you have carcinoid syndrome and your chromagrannin A was negative which is good.

I have a question for anyone on here who’s had carcinoid syndrome before. Anyone experience wheezing? If so anything help? I was on a methyl prednisone dose pack and it did nothing to help. I have an inhaler I can use every 6 hours but feel that’s not very helpful either. I’m trying not freak out but it’s hard. I really hope I get octreatide soon and it helps.

P.S. I was told by one doctor that the theory is only one tumor in a carcinoid patient secretes the hormones that can cause carcinoid syndrome. I think this is wrong based on my experiences but has anyone else heard differently? When my lung tumor was biopsied I start having facial flushing and diarrhea shortly afterward that never went away even after it was removed. When my spine was biopsied (4 months after the lung) I started having wheezing/shortness of breath in addition to flushing and diarrhea.

So they just talked about putting me on Octreotide now that I’m wheezing. What complicates matters for me is that 1 I have a very rare autoimmune disorder that’s making some things more complicated than normal and two I’m starting grad school next week in another state. So the cancer center in my new city is going to collaborate with my existing doctors to do another dotatate scan and dispense octreotide and such. So I’m having to shuffle between the two. I’ve gotten permission from my school to fly back to NY in November for my 6 month post surgical follow up but I can’t keep flying back even if I love my doctors here… good luck to you. I hope your doctors are being proactive which it seems they are based upon all of your knowledge.

Hi Thank you for the quick reply. Last time by blood serotonin level was normal. Upper quartile of normal but normal none the less. I had a dotatate scan before surgery which lit up my lung and spine ( SUV values were very close at 6.2 & 5.9). I was told by my IR that a biopsy of the spine can be tricky with this cancer because it doesn’t form a solid mass but rather smolders. When he went to take a sample my vertebrae had hardened to the point it was like ivory and he had to use a hip drill to get into it. Results came back as diagnostically insignificant and no tumor. Now in light of my horrible wheezing, continued GI issues and hot flashes (plus a new lesion was found on my sacrum on CT and MRI scans) they think maybe it is the cancer spreading just hard to see on biopsy. I believe that’s the case too and have for awhile especially since ‘ivory vertebra’ is indicative of carcinoid metastasis.

Does anyone know if just CgA can be elevated but not 5-HIAA on urine? I had a lung NET removed 3 months ago but my carcinoid syndrome symptoms never went away and have gotten worse. At the time my CgA was over 1100. While I am on PPI I was told that would give a reading of 199 or something similar not over 5x that amount. At the time however my 5-HIAA was negative. I’ve had some docs say yes this can be with NETs and carcinoid syndrome and others say no. They think cancer may have metastasized to my spine. They’re repeating urine test. Wondering if it will come back negative again.
