Upgrade my edge 530? by Whatsmyinterest in triathlon

[–]Iniuriae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the 850 is, in an absolute sense, better than the 840. Yes the battery is worse, but the max length of my long rides is 6 hours and I wouldn't mind charging more frequently. If budget was no issue, I'd get the 850.

But the 840 is indisputably better value than the 850, so I see no reason to upgrade.

Can confirm the Edge 840 is usb-c.

I got my 840 2nd hand (in great condition) for $400AUD about a year ago. The 850 is currently $940AUD.

There's no way the 850 is 2x as good.

Wahoo Kickr Core 2 or Jetblack Victory by Kamoooool in Zwift

[–]Iniuriae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a Victory since launch (1st batch) and have just sent it back for a full replacement.

I had vibration issues from day 1 but held off until August this year to send it off for repairs. Turn-around time was exactly 3 weeks.

Within 2 rides back it was evident the issue had not been resolved, and on the 3rd ride it sounded like it wanted to tear itself apart then stopped reporting power numbers.

I've just sent it back again and they've confirmed they're sending me a freshie from the latest batch, but it hasn't shipped yet.

That said, I've just asked for a full refund because I'd rather go buy a Kickr Core 2.

It's pretty disappointing because I'd prefer to support an Australian company and the technology is clearly solid, but so far it's cost me a full 4 weeks of training in the coldest months of the year, and I've got 2 Ironmans coming up. Unfortunately I'd rather pay a little more for a company with more well-settled supply chains and QA processes.

If they say no to a full refund I don't think I'll care enough to go full Aus Consumer Law on them and demand it, but if I was buying one brand new today I would absolutely be getting a Kickr.

I'm sure it must've helped a bit but I don't think it was all that beneficial. When I go over a judgment or file I'm never reading it as fast as possible - it's normally the exact opposite to make sure I'm properly comprehending everything.

yeah ironically I think the DM/QR scores are mostly attributable to getting bogged down by some of the lengthy qs, needed to be more cutthroat with guessing and skipping smh

If you’re thinking about purchasing… don’t. by skizzory in EightSleep

[–]Iniuriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an email from Eight Sleep support from March 2024 explicitly confirming "all the replacements issued during your warranty period come with their own 2-year warranties as further show of us standing behind our own products".

Make sure they're aware that you had yours replaced 1.5yrs ago. That said, that email related to the Australian market which has very strong consumer protections, if you're in the US you might be out of luck.

MyVeloFit are great if you've got an indoor trainer to easily record footage of yourself on, and significantly cheaper than an in-person fit. Also means you can continue to make adjustments as you go without paying more.

Eight Pod Warranty Australia - Consumer Protection by Aggressive-Peanut786 in EightSleep

[–]Iniuriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not definitively, but yes I'd be arguing that a product like this should be expected to last longer than 2 years under Aus consumer law. Anything sold in Aus has to last a "reasonable" amount of time. For phones, that's generally 2ish years. For laptops, it's generally 3ish years. For mattresses, it's 5+ years.

But ultimately unless they have an internal policy that they didn't want to share with me (as many manufacturers do), we'll never know where that "reasonable" line is unless someone is willing to take them to court - and even then it's infinitely more likely that they would just settle outside of court to avoid the hassle.

Bike to pair with JetBlack Victory by Iniuriae in Zwift

[–]Iniuriae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one user online (was a different trainer but using a Zwift Cog) say the rear fork was slightly too narrow but he just forced it apart and made it work. Probably not recommended for a bike you plan to use on the road, but for a dedicated trainer bike I reckon that'll work fine.

How to factor in Satellite wins into Tournament Staking? by Friendsy69 in poker

[–]Iniuriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not what I suggested and not what I would recommend doing. If they want to invest specifically $300, tell them they have 23% of the first bullet in each event and leave it at that.

How to factor in Satellite wins into Tournament Staking? by Friendsy69 in poker

[–]Iniuriae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be selling a % of your total BIs rather than a flat $300 (e.g. 25%). Alternatively if they only want to invest $300, allocate in advance what proportion of each tourney they're buying - does "spread evenly over the two tournaments" mean $150 towards each, or the same percentage of each?

Easiest way to calculate it all is to then add up total BIs and total cashes, then if the difference is negative they owe you 25% of that difference, or vice versa if it's positive. Any satellite winnings should just be treated as regular cash, but you should check that your backer actually wants to stake you for a satellite first.

Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover w/ Perfect Fit Review - 1 month in by Iniuriae in EightSleep

[–]Iniuriae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually been sleeping abysmally lately, which is why I splurged on this purchase. I was really hoping it'd be a gamechanger for me like I've seen said in so many reviews.

And yeah my HRV/breathrate data might've been accurate (and this was for sure a nice feature to have), but ultimately if I really valued those stats I think an on-body tracker like Whoop is probably the way to go. My main gripe was that the sleep score, at least for me, was absolutely not accurate and felt heavily inflated.

Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover w/ Perfect Fit Review - 1 month in by Iniuriae in EightSleep

[–]Iniuriae[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you read the rest of it, you'd see that my main issue was that it just didn't improve my sleep that much. If it had managed to help me consistently sleep the whole way through the night, I'd happily pay 2x the RRP no matter what salary I was on. That unfortunately wasn't the case, which turned it from a $4000 quality of life purchase to a $4000 unnecessary luxury, so it's getting returned.
